Now children. Your home work tonight is research into internet voting systems...

 

I'm 3 steps ahead of you.

 

I've already hacked an online voting system to force a winner. [OK, it was a test hack... and it was a while ago.]

 

 

Judging from the site layout and design, I'm not confident in their ability to detect it. Or, to be more accurate, I doubt they could prove it was hacked.

I'm going to suggest nobody does this... they might not be able to prove it, but if @Domino 's band suddenly gets 500 votes in the space of an hour, they may disqualify them...

Done... currently 5 votes behind (202 v 197) but they've had 11 today to your 40 so you might be on a last minute surge ;)

 

You're also 184 votes ahead of number 3, so yeah, two horse race.

I was going to edit that in... Then curiosity took over and I found myself examining the source.

 

Also, 203 to 199 [against] 45 votes today.

Accusations are fine, provided they are investigated properly.

 

Everything is legit, so any investigation would turn up no proof of foul play.

 

 

However, if the accusation is taken at face value and assumed to be true...

I'd love if those of you with a rock/metal leaning would have a listen and, if you think we're worthy, press the little vote button next to our name: I'd be very grateful.

 

I think that covers them should any accusations be made :)

 

It's all part of it anyway, rallying support, just look at the X-Factor lot touring schools etc. for votes (not that I'm comparing your band @Domino to anything on the X-Factor!)

Depends on if they are using IP tracking or more likely 12h cookie tracking to prevent duplicates (if they run checking at all) it is a simple case of messing with the post form.

I think it must be Cookie tracking. I've just voted from 3 different browsers on the same machine to test it :rolleyes:

 

Just tried it with a second user in Chrome and voted there too.

 

So disabling cookies or multiple InPrivate/Incogneto tabs along with the URL of the gateway page would bypass it quite easily. Not that I am suggesting that in case they are tracking / logging for checks later if things look squiffy at the end and ethics ad all that.

 

Correction... it let me vote but the total didn't go up :(
