SimpleSi Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I'd like to run a long HDMI lead from Sky Box to my bedroom but I'd appreicate some real world info 1st Has anyone run a long HDMI lead sucessfully - is so how long - where'd you get the cable? Ta Simon
chazzy2501 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) I with a high grade cable I have a run of 15Meters to my projector. I believe you need a repeter if you need longer. edit, I also think you can go longer (20M without repeter) if you don't need the full 1080p (sky isnt so maybe) Edited June 19, 2012 by chazzy2501

john Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 You can get HDMI over CAT6 extender kits including IR for about £60 from CPC, be warned they need 2 runs of CAT6 not just 1 like VGA
Arthur Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 how long - where'd you get the cable? 15 metres from Blue Jeans Cable. 1
Michael Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I've run a 20m HDMI cable, with a powered splitter. Don't buy cheap unpowered splitters, they just don't work!
CHR1S Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 You can pick up 50M HDMI cables here and there - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Techlink-Wires-CR68-Premium-Cable/dp/B000UVNQA0/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1340142345&sr=1-1-fkmr2 Techlink 50m Hdmi Cable - HDMI 1.3 Professional Grade for Sky HD Blu-Ray DVD etc Only £199.00 at TVCables I wouldn't say they are very cost affective!
jamesfed Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 We've got 15m to a hall projector - signal qulity is perfect compared to the poor unboosted VGA lead that runs with it.
SimpleSi Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 Well who believes that this magic device does will do what it says on the packet HDMI Extender - HDMI Cable Repeater up to 40m Only £11.99 at TVCables Si
SYNACK Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) Well who believes that this magic device does will do what it says on the packet HDMI Extender - HDMI Cable Repeater up to 40m Only £11.99 at TVCables Si Interesting, looks like it might work but I'd use a low AWG cable and try not to daisychain them together HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 5VDC ad 50mA is not that much, the thicker the wire uesd the longer it will go without the need for the extender, examples HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia & Ask An Installer: HDMI 1.3 Cable Length Limit | Sound and Vision Magazine Edited July 3, 2012 by SYNACK
