tech_guy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Me the other day trying to help a clueless friend with a computer problem over the phone: User: It's got Windows 2010 installed. Me: You mean you've got MS Office 2010... User: No, I know it's got Windows 2010 on it! Me: (Giving up) So what version of Office is on it? User: What's that? Me; You know, Word, Excel, PowerPoint...? User: Oh, yes, we downloaded that free from the internet last year - it's Office 2011. Me: Are you sure? The only Office 2011 is the version for Mac computers...? User: Yes I'm sure. I'm not stupid! At this point I recall that I'm dealing with someone who is convinced that there are five seasons in a year, not four (winter, spring, summer, autumn, winter) and has a tattoo of Britney Spears on their abdomen. I told them I couldn't help them with their problem and to take it to PC World. 1

Gatt Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 the answer is, yes we do! As long as it doesn't involve belly buttons and USB Sticks
andy_nic Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 In my local computer shop they had a laptop with a 40 gig SIDD, I think they meant SSD.

sparkeh Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 As long as it doesn't involve belly buttons and USB Sticks Could be worse

Pete10141748 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Ahh, the old "confusing office with windows" problem. Happens all the time here, and to my parents, and my friends, and... well, a suprisingly large amount of people, actually. I was asked for Windows 2003 to be put on a new laptop just last week, I used to play ignorant to what they mean and state the obvious, "Err, windows 2003 is for servers only? It's got Windows 7" to be met with "No, I had Window 2003 on my old laptop. I don't like Windows 7, they've moved around the menus and things" and generally wound them up until they realise they meant Office all along. These days I just assume anyone means Office whenever they ask for Windows [anything].
SC92 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Depends.. can I access the interwebz on this laptopamabob? 1
kernewek-sam Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 These days I just assume anyone means Office whenever they ask for Windows [anything]. Same here. @elsiegee40 giga merts are the way forward none of this hertz nonsense.
