Office 2010 - RM CC4

Hello All

 

RM released there office 2010 package on a CD called RM Curriculum Choice pack for Office 2010 Pro. The school I am working at was sent this CD by RM but its got lost in-between the school office and my desk.

 

RM want to charge to send out a replacement CD, which I though was amazing see is its just the office 2010 installer files. So I wanted to ask if anyone on here who has a CC4 network, has a copy of the CD they could upload for me to download?

I also have a bit of a problem like this. My school decided to go and buy Office Pro 2010 from Microsoft instead of RM! I'm not sure how to build a package for this that will work with the activation. If anyone could give me a copy of the RM Curriculum Choice pack for Office 2010 Pro as well it would be greatly appreciated.

 

If not could anyone tell me how to successfully create a package for this?

Hi Joe

 

Looks like your issue is the same as mine. You can create the package yourself, not easy, or buy the above cd in yr case from RM. the cd doesn't hold any licence info it's just the core files needed to create the office 2010 package in the RMMC to allow you to deploy the program.

 

Hopefully someone on here has the cd which will fix both mine and your issue.

How much can they possibly demand for a disc out of curiosity?

1st disk was free. Replacement is £400 + VAT

Sorry, but that is outrageous. How on earth anyone can say RM is value for money is beyond me.

they know you have the licence therefore that side of it is covered - charging that for a replacement is ludicrous, and I would question it with your account manager immediately.

Yep tell me about it. I would have paid upto £100. But £400 is just way way out there for what is a office 2010 cd modified to work with RM

I would have told them to sod off at anything more than £10 for media replacement.

Who knows, maybe they have gopher at RM HQ who re-programmed the whole Office 2010 package just to get it to work on an RM network!

Usually via the MyAccount section on rm.com you should be able to download all curriculum choice packages you've purchased.

Just what i was about to say. We never got a cd when we ordered it. Just a license confirmation slip from RM to say that we can use their packaged product on their network. I had to down the product from the My Account area.

We're licensed through the EES agreement, which we've bought through RM... Is it likely that we would be eligible for the Office 2010 curriculum choice pack without shelling out £400

I've seen how difficult the package is to create and i'm not that confident i would be able to do it! Its a Microsoft product so you think they would include a .msi file really.

 

I have just been on to the software download section of the RM site but it's not available for us to download. Think i'll be giving them a call this morning.

Microsoft changed the way from Office 2007 to 2010 on how you deploy the package. If you didn’t a package from the MS CD, it can be done, but you need to use XML files, and you can’t run it from a MSI, as there isn’t one. The Office 2010 I did had a VBS file, which ran though GPO and then installed the package pulling the in the XML file on install. Changing the settings in the VBS file you could also uninstall the program too.

The only way i know to create packages and deploy software is the RM way using a clean machine. I'm not very experienced in server technology and all i really know is the RM side of things. I have been thinking of setting up some VMs of server 2008 and learning the vanilla windows way but it's finding the time to do it and knowing where to start!

Check out the RM Communities forum, someone has kindly posted a step-by-step instruction guide on how to package up Office 2010 with our without SP1.

Its all very well packaging it up yourself but you will be missing all the office 2010 registry policies, i'd save yourself an awful lot of hassel and just buy the curriculum choice pack and get it done right after all pretty much everyone uses office.

I'd spend a day searching every possible nook and cranny, pay people to move their junk and you may find it. Send an email round too, if you find it, there is a prize... You never know, its cheaper than £400.
