I've just taken a massive trip back in time with that lot; so many of those titles I played and enjoyed, and brought back some fond memories of ones that I loved and forgotten about. Outside the ones we all remember (Manic Miner, Elite, etc), 3D Ant Attack was just beautiful and I remember the hours I lost on Back to Skool. And, TLL (Tornado Low Level) just blew me away as a kid! Fantastic.

Was sitting here thinking where is Chuckie Egg, one of two games anyone I have spoken to about the old games always mention. The other being Dizzy.

Found it in the end, top 20 for Chuckie Egg - surprised to see Dizzy a bit far down. They are the only two games anyone has ever mentioned to me.

I can't agree with the list though. All the games you mention above are more worthy #1s for a start...

I can't believe Delta Wing and They Stole a Million aren't in that list, and Elite only managed 16th.

That's the biggest shock for me!

I know that these lists are subjective, and that everyone has their own ideas on what is great.....but for anyone of a certain age, Elite was THE game of the 80's.....surely?

Humbug. I've not long finished pratting around with the Atari 800XL emulator because of what someone said to me the other day, now it looks like I need to drag out the Speccy ones too ;)

How do you find the time, when there's so much to do in the 'Borough?? LOL!!!

Indeed, but don't forget that the list is actually of the age as well.. so there is very little strength of nostalgia behind it and I suspect that a number of games on that list where succeeding through being in the mind of the reviewer at that time.

I loved The Sentinel but wouldn't have put Elite back at number 17..

Also where are the Wally series of adventure games. "Everyones a Wally" deserves a mention just for the Mike Berry penned theme tune on the B side of the cassette!

Me either, the top three were rubbish. Although saying that Deathchase did a hell of a lot in 16k (hey hey)

Elite should have been higher; does any remember the 'Lenslock' thing you had to use to be able to play it though, what a ball ache that was! :)

Ahhhh... the lenslock! Many hours lost trying to line that bl***y thing up!!

Elite originally would not run on the 128K Spectrums

So a new version was released to fix the problem, this version did not have the Lenslok protection check.
