Smartphones are going to end up like ghettoblasters given this screen size competition they have going. I predict a future where smartphones are like sholder mounted tvs blasting abnoxiously loud music and calls. As to the HTC One X (as they are actually avalible here) I am considering one.

The videos shown at the launch event were very weird...

Samsung chose to illustrate the S III's features with a series of short, almost surreal videos that played at seemingly random intervals throughout the presentation. We're not sure what they mean, but we know they're crazy. (Source)

What contract are you guys going for? I cannot decide.

Do I really want a 24 month contract for £36 p/m? Not ideal contract length but Carphone Warehouse has a nice free pre-order bundle offer atm.

Do I really want to pay £500 up front so i don't have to have a 24 month contract? Again not great but I can get a new phone after 18 months or so if I want.

I am going to go with Three for their unlimited data allowance but is tethering useful / worth while (e.g is it painfully slow?) for the extra £10 a month?? Or should I just get the £15 p/m unlimited data contract?

Sometimes I really am rubbish at making decisions

Carphone Warehouse added a new SGS3 deal yesterday which is something like:

24 month contract on Three "The One Plan" for £34 p/m

5000 texts

2000 any network mins

2000 three-to-three mins

UNLIMITED data usage

UNLIMITED tethering

Phone is free

+ free 32gb sd card + other goodies if you pre-order

It beats any other deal I've seen by a long way so I pre-ordered mine last night!

The new Google Nexus smartphones will be out in less than sixth months time (all running Android 5.0). I wonder if it's worth waiting for these?

Google's apparently ready to greatly expand its Nexus program: the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the company plans to give as many as five device OEMs early access to future versions of Android and sell those devices directly to consumers. This represents a major shift from Google's strategy over the last few years of selling one flagship device from a single OEM partner, and would mark an expansion of its recently-revived online direct-to-consumer sales channel — Google had previously sold the Nexus One unlocked through its site, but the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus were primarily sold through third-party retailers or carriers. Much as Google now sells the Galaxy Nexus unlocked, these devices would also likely be sold carrier-free and at a full retail price. Google's aiming to have these phones available for consumers by Thanksgiving, just in time for the holiday season. Unlike the current Google Play store, which only sells unlocked Galaxy Nexus phones in the US, Google's reportedly going to offer this wider portfolio in Asia and Europe as well as stateside.
