Im not feeling the impulse to rush out and buy the same way that I used to when i had an iphone. Thats good - my S2 is brilliant and at the moment I dont want to swap. I would look into it though and if it wasnt too expensive, I might switch!

I want huge...lol....easier for me to see things without straining.

 

buy a tablet! pretty much the same!

I can't use a tablet to text or phone. Believe me, I have thought long and hard about it!

 

3G with SIP client? not sure how well it would work though!

You don't even need that, if you use GSM as your codec even accounting for the overhead of the IP packet headers you only need about 56kbit per call. So bog standard GSM (not even EDGE) should cope.

That's a lot for GSM encoded audio the original worked over about a 14.4k link Full Rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and encoding has improved since then, you'd probably get decent quality out of a 33.6k link given the lower latency of modern links and the huge increase in avalible CPU power at the end device.

It's not just the audio though, there's a lot of other things going on when using SIP.

 

RTP 4.69kbit/s

UDP 3.13kbit/s

IP 7.91kbit/s

GSM Audio 13kbit/s

 

Then multiply it x2 because you have both the incoming and outgoing channel.

Fair enough, never really took the time to work out all the encapsulation protocol overheads.

As tommej said, it was a complete and utter waste of time!

 

Yesterday, the hype-machine for the next galaxy device officially started with the launch of tgeltaayehxnx, a website displaying a twenty-four hour countdown. Today, that countdown hit zero, and visiting thenextgalaxy.com brings up a teaser video that shows very little. There are no shadowy renders of silhouettes to pique our interest, instead we're treated to some rather meaningless messages against a nebulous backdrop, accompanied by a piece from the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack.

 

The video closes with an invite to "stand out from everyone else," who are, apparently, sheep. How Samsung, which will very soon be the number one phone manufacturer in the world running the world's most popular smartphone OS, can call anyone but its own customers sheep isn't clear. Is Samsung attempting to start a global flamewar by invoking the tired iSheep diatribe? Perhaps. Either way, the next Galaxy S device will launch on May 3rd at a Samsung Unpacked event in London. Major specs include a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display at 720p resolution, 8-megapixel primary and 1.9-megapixel front-facing cameras with burst and best-shot modes (similar to the HTC One series), 16 or 32GB of storage (a 64GB version is coming later) with microSD expansion, Bluetooth 4.0 support, GPS with GLONASS reception, high-throughput 40MHz 802.11n Wi-Fi, NFC, and a relatively large 2,100mAh battery. Processor specs aren't mentioned, but it's widely understood that the global version of the device will be using the recently-announced Exynos 4 Quad quad-core system-on-chip — regional variants could be using alternatives, just as the Galaxy S II did. The phone measures 8.6mm thick (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm, to be exact) which is actually a bit thicker than the S II's 8.5mm. The global version will support 21Mbps HSPA+, though Samsung is quick to point out that certain local models will have 4G. (Source)
