I have been asked by our Art Department on advise regarding the use of Tablet PC's (iPAD or Android) in their lessons and how they could make best use of them. Our Head of Art attended a course recently and was recommended that using Tablet PC's would help engage students, especially boys.

I wondered if anyone is currently doing this and if so could you give me some info on what apps you may be using and how well they actually work.

Many thanks

Can't speak for IOS, but I've not found anything on Android even close to what an Art Department is likely to want, even PhotoShop Touch is rather disappointing (especially for £6.99).

Snapseed is a neat little app for editing photos. However you still have issues importing photos on to the tablet (unless they're taken with the onboard camera) and then exporting/printing them afterwards.

I would see if you can bang heads with the art teacher and find some more interesting IT based art activities using conventional PCs.

Found a BECTA Study into tablets in schools quite interesting read.
