cpjitservices Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 What systems are people using for their phone systems ?? I'm looking for different prices - needs to be deployed in a call center type environment, presently we use talkswitch but we've outgrown it. Thanks everyone.
jamesfed Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Going to be moving to Lync 2010 on SIP trunks over April, have been looking at 3cx for a primary we support as well. 1
MatthewL Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 We use Avaya, currently have 2 busy call centers running on different systems, constantly expanding, only a few sites not on Avaya kit now. 1
Domino Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Lync is the way forward. Moving all of our systems on to it now. Call routing groups, conferencing, mobile access, exchange voicemail, survivable branch appliances - winning. 1
tom_newton Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Zultys with Aastra phones and the odd polycom phone. Decent kit, we've had it in 5 or 6 years. Salesforce integration's our next step. Good call centre options for sure.
glennda Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) I'm in the throws of FreePBX an Asterisk based system @Geoff recommended it. We use Yealink T28P's all which are configured via Auto-provisioning (dead simple!). Going to be using SIP aswell over a Leased Line which we share with internet traffic. using Smoothwall's SIP Proxy probably. Edited February 29, 2012 by glennda
Geoff Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Using VICIDial in an Outbound callcenter in anger (10k+ calls a day). Agents use Zoiper Classic softphones + USB headsets.
Gigabyte Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Avaya IP Office 500 with a mixture of 9608 & 9641 IP Phones, Very good system with plenty of features and very easy to manage. It’s been in and working just over a month and all is well so far, apart from the odd phone freezing.
FragglePete Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Splicecom Maximiser - Great phones, works well and made in Britain! Pete
Geoff Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 If you are running a call center, I would suggest that you try Hosted PBX services. These people provide all the hardware and configure everything. You can use your traditional PSTN phones with ATA or VoIP phones. They also provide as many numbers of extensions as you require, so you can change them as per your requirements. I am currently using services from therealpbx.com and it is working fine. I'd rather not. My inhouse system comes in at 1/10th of the cost with much more flexibility than I could attain by using a hosted system. But I bet I'm preaching to the wrong crowd here about inhouse vs hosted solutions.
cpjitservices Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks for all of your comments... I think however we are going to go Asterix after careful consideration of our needs
glennda Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks for all of your comments... I think however we are going to go Asterix after careful consideration of our needs The FreeFBX solution is based on the Mysql version of asterisk and in terms of customization is just as flexible IMHO worth a play if you want. There is also Trixbox CE 1
Geoff Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Indeed, let me know if you have any issues. I know more about Asterisk based VOIP systems than I care to admit. 1
cpjitservices Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks - Just looking at trixbox saw it a while ago but want to play with it now.
glennda Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks - Just looking at trixbox saw it a while ago but want to play with it now. I found Trixbox too clunky and not very logical but could just be me! I'm going live with our FreePBX system next week
snoerre Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 For opensource Home - SIPfoundry looks interesting. There´s also a commercial release. Unfortunately I cannot find any prices. Anyone? 1

Geoff Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Don't forget Trixbox/FreePBX will run quite happily in VMware (don't use virtualisation for a production system though!) so you can easily set up a few soft phones and have a mess around.
CyberNerd Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (don't use virtualisation for a production system though!) What is the issue with it?

Geoff Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 From a VOIP point of view as soon as you go above 20-30 extensions and/or start doing queue handling you'll exceed the I/O and memory utilisation VMware can cope with and you'll start dropping calls. On a more practical note, there's no way you can use a hardware telephony card with VMware, it's simply not supported, so you can't use a ISDN or FXS/FXO card. 1
