I know laptop HDD's are large enough nowadays but do you have any synching issues when synching large amounts of data i.e. 20GB+? What is the most space used by a single member of staff using offline files?
Just interested to know if any of the schools providing unlimited space for staff use offline files with staff laptops? If not what do you use instead?
At the moment we have a limit of 15GB for staff, but we do freely up this if needs be.
We use Wasp Mobile Asset, a barcode based asset system.
I've used plenty of different systems over the years and this is easily the best. The combination of barcode asset tags and a hand held scanner means no more fiddling with bits of paper.
Avaya IP Office 500 with a mixture of 9608 & 9641 IP Phones, Very good system with plenty of features and very easy to manage. It’s been in and working just over a month and all is well so far, apart from the odd phone freezing.
I would reccomend part worns but only if they are in good condition with no repairs or damage. I know my dad has used them in the past and does 40K+ miles a year with no problems.
As DT2 said, it is a bit ridiculous downloading that much in a month. If they are doing that much downloading it certainly begs the question of whether they are doing their jobs properly?
If your switch/router supports it you could use port mirroring on the port the AP is plugged into and monitor the traffic with maybe something like wireshark.
We use a signagelive screen which has a connection to the internet and pulls all its content directly from the cloud. Great piece of kit that just works.
I looked into this for charging our flip cameras, but unfortunately the power is way too high at 2.1A, whereas USB 2.0 has a max output of 900Ma.
Hopefully they will bring out a universal charger for all USB devices.
