Rawns Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Sorry, but IMO, it's like eating an ashtray*. * Disclaimer: I have never eaten an ashtray!

Guest Guest Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Don't eat smoked bacon but smoked gammon...! Yum yum!
Flatpackhamster Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Sorry, but IMO, it's like eating an ashtray*. * Disclaimer: I have never eaten an ashtray! Depends how it's smoked. Supermarket 'smoked' bacon is often just a smoke flavour mixed in with the brine in which the bacon is cured. Proper smoked bacon - where the bacon is dry-cured and smoked over wood - tastes very different. 3
sonofsanta Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Well they do say the Devil has all the best music, obviously he has all the best food as well. Smoked or nuthin'! (not true. I will eat any bacon, but smoked is best)

They do a bacon-patterned wallet. They like bacon more than you. 1
teejay Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Stop talking about bacon, I'm on a diet How about lettuce - mmmmm.................. -.- Get yourself on a low carb diet, can eat as much bacon as you want Mind you, after being on low carb since September, bacon has actually lost it's appeal...
Oaktech Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Welcome - fordmillfarm.co.uk is my housemates family farm... the bacon you can get from them bears absolutely no relation to anything you can get from a supermarket... Yummy! 1
AMLinington Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Smoked Bacon - super crispy, warm, crusty roll, melty butter and a touch of ketchup.... Mmmm so good. I am partial to Bavarian Smoked ham too... So. much. tasty.

Heebeejeebee Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Heartburn fodder and repeat on me all day. HBJB
BassTech Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Get yourself on a low carb diet, can eat as much bacon as you want Mind you, after being on low carb since September, bacon has actually lost it's appeal... Not too keen on low carb diets, prefer the traditional eat less and better food, excersice more. It's hard but worth it when you look in the mirror after a couple of months
Rawns Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 So most people like it then? Must just be me, however I don';t think I've ever really had amazing quality smoky. My pick up a rasher or two next time I'm near the butchers.
AMLinington Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Try a 'Pig Trinity' sandwich - Bacon, Chorizo & Black Pudding ! Ack Blood Pudding :-( Le Boyfriend would love this but I'm not a massive pig fan. I like Smoked Bacon and Smoked Ham and thats about it. Roast Pork itself if revolting (the cracking not so much) and I've hated Pork Chops for years. Just the smell of Gammon makes me ill and I can't even look at a Carbonara without retching (although to be fair, this is entirely the fault of the horrific French hostel we once stayed in). Sausages have to be cumberland and minimum 80% meat content or I won't eat those either. Even the bacon has to be blackened to the point where it snaps - The boyfriend suffers me deliberately overcooking the bacon with impressive stoicism.
