FN-GM Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Hi, Has anyone managed to get Windows Movie Maker installed on Windows 7? Someone suggested to use 2.6 for Windows Vista. It installed on my 7 x64 machine but for the x32 machine it says the app is for Windows Vista only. Thanks
TechieWils Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I just installed windows live essentials 2011 and chose live movie maker from the tick box selection. Seems fine on my machine. Win 7 pro sp1 32 bit. Hope that helps.
Arthur Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Windows Movie Maker (the non-Live) version on Windows 7? 2
Davit2005 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Found the only way is to do from the Internet as TechieWills says. Bit of a pain up the rear end as either has to be done at image build or manaully at each machine due to no MSI/EXE been available. Also you may have issues downloading if behind a county filtering system as my last place did.
accura2000 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 We have Movie Maker 2.6 running across all 280 windows 7 laptops here. Installed perfectly fine, didnt need to change anything, although 2.6 is for XP.
Michael Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I've installed version 2.6 on many Windows 7 x86 machines, no problems.
mrbios Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Using the live version installed using the following command line: wlsetup-all.exe /q /NoLaunch /NoToolbarCEIP /NoHomepage /NoSearch /AppSelect:Writer,MovieMaker Can be done that way through SCCM/SCE as well. EDIT: I should add that kudos goes to AngryTechnicians blog for this. Edited January 23, 2012 by mrbios

I should of mentioned the download bit, I had to connect my Desire to a laptop and download it as BGFL blocked it. Your also bang on about the lack of MSI, its a killer but luckily we only have a few Win 7 Clients at the moment.
3s-gtech Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I have successfully used this here: Search Results movie « Jonathan Kay, MessengerGeek scroll down to the link for the MSI.
FN-GM Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Windows Movie Maker (the non-Live) version on Windows 7? Hi guys, I needed up using the .exe in the link in blog. I added it to the application deployment script and it works a treat. Thanks
enjay Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I whacked it on our server instead of the PCs, as I needed it in a rush. That worked okay, but it wasn't seeing heavy use.
RTFM Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I just used Movie Maker 2.6 MSI and it's on x64 and x86 machines with no problem..... :\
