The moment you add a students personal device to your wireless I think your opening yourself up for all sorts of potential problems as you don't have the necessary policies in place to police this properly. Your also going to be stuck when everyone else asks you to do the same thing. If this is the route you want to go down I'd have thought you'd be best looking at implementing a proper BYOD strategy or you could really tie yourself in knots.

Looks like a chromecast and seems to do the same stuff and work in a similar way. A lot more expensive though. Not cheap but something like this is quite nice; http://www.barco.com/en/clickshare have seen them in action and they are quite cool

We have ours cabled directly in, nothing in the middle. I'd have guessed the issue was with the config on the sonicwall rather than the lightspeed as we have no config on the lightspeed relating to the sonicwall. In our case our layer 3 switch has a default next hop of the sonicwall but is plugged through the lightspeed, its transparent so the sonicwall doesnt see the traffic coming from the lightspeed box but rather the layer 3 switch. Was your external company never able to diagnose / fix the problem as they do work if configured right...... Drop me a PM if you like, we can compare settings?

You can add a column in explorer called 'filename' which ignores the my documents and will display the actual folder name. Short term solution

The best thing you can do is trial it. We got the impression it was more of a corporate filter from using it / seeing a few demos of it etc. I'll happily give you the details of who we purchased through though if you want a trial / demo of it, if you havent already got someone! I'd certainly suggest seeing it for yourself before making a decision though. As i said, as a firewall its great

We have a SonicWall in. As a firewall its great, the filtering isnt upto the job for education from our experience though so we put in a Lightspeed box with it. They're working very well together thus far!

Our PC damage has virtually reduced to zero now we are nearly 100% @VeryPC (the only damage they can do is to USB's which on the whole they havent resorted to). Instead they have switched their attention to mice and keyboards. We consider these sorts of things to be classroom management issues and push the emphasis back onto the teaching staff. We will departments where we can for any damage

I wouldn't personally be 'guessing' how much i could borrow and how much that would cost a month when you can go get a free no obligation figure from a mortgage advisor As I had said, most of them will do a free no obligation first meeting to discuss your case and give you some base figures (they do around me anyway as i've sat with a couple and done it). If it costs nothing and can eliminate the need to 'guess' its probably worth an hour of time to do it If you phone and speak to them and they say they'll charge you, find another........

You get a mortgage in principal before you start putting in offers for houses. How can you put an offer in without knowing how much you can borrow? I think the mortgage in principal lasts 3 months or something like that. It's worth noting anytime you get a mortgage in principal or apply for a mortgage it counts on your credit score. Like applying for multiple store cards I'd start by seeing an independant mortgage advisor who will give you a no obligation first meeting, give you some ideas about what you can borrow and the repayments then you know where you stand and its cost nothing. It gives you a figure to work off without having applied for a mortgage in principal so you know what price bracket your looking at. You can then look at houses, find one and apply for a mortgage and providing your circumstances havent changed you should be ok

We have Office365 for students and Exchange 2010 for staff. Whatever you choose to do i'd always suggest managing things internally / yourselves. It gives much greater flexibility

I think this has been out for a fair while, it still attaches to the wall so it doesnt topple over but the main weight is taken by the floor not the wall. I believe they come in electric 'up and down' versions and fixed. The Sahara touch screens definitely have a bit of weight to them, we have some 55" ones and I think they were 70kg or so from memory. As i said before, a bug bear from teachers is a lack of a freeze screen option on them.
