"Hello, I'm keeping my daughter off because of the poison in the air from all these airplanes so I'm not bringing her out today." We laughed. Then we checked the news to make sure they didn't know something we didn't. Then we carried on laughing. 1
synaesthesia Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Difference is, when "all these plans" are several thousand feet high, I'm sure a fair few more of us would be having an effect! Plus, there's no more or less planes about today than any other day! The nearest (proper) airports are East Midlands and Luton, both of which are over 40 miles away.

aerospacemango Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 How can you be sure that she didn't live near Sywell??? It may be that the aerobatic team had got up early and were having a practise? Or some of the choppers were up and about.... It's a busy hub, don't ya know!!!

Got a reply on friday that made me smile I've had a text to say you haven't turned up at school. Uhhh...you have RAF bases near you.... Closest one I would assume is RAF Croughton which is used by the US and they fly stuff in almost daily!

synaesthesia Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 True indeed, and there are usually 3 distinct smells round our way. There is indeed the stench from the Billing/Ecton sewerage works which sometimes works its way here with wind, a similar stench from an old works at Ditchford, or more pleasingly the sweet smells from the local flavouring manufacturer. Which constantly makes me hungry. In fact, I shall blame them for my weight and sue them immediately! There's very little traffic overhead from nearby RAF places - the occasional chinook and planes-going-so-quick-you-never-realised-they-were-there but nothing to write home about. Or more importantly nothing that will make Little Darling convulse in the middle of the road on their way to school.
