happydays Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 No more ceiling installs, overpriced "specialists" to install, wiring runs for sound etc...Just received the new 3M DMS 815 projector. cost me a few pennies over £2100. Steljes? not any more! No need for a "traditional" interactive board...this gadget turns a normal drywipe into interactive! Stunning. 85" interactive for £2100 and no bloody Steljes! I put it up myself with no more than sticky tape to hold the template on the wall and a drill and rawlplugs. piece of p**s to do. not many people got the license to sell them in the uk yet. Try TCS on 01772 699 400...speak to Paul, he's their most teccie sales guy and tries to get the best pricing for you.

One sensor unit to detect where the pen is. I can see this sort of thing working for us in awkward areas but I've seen versions that have the projector part able to swing back to a parked position when not used so it's parallel to the board. This makes it practical to be be used in places like our dance studio when you don't want it being hit by students throwing their arms about or the evening "Kung Fu" type sessions. HBJB

localzuk Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Generally, a complete install of a 66" board, projector and speakers comes to around £1500 for us (based on doing 2 at once as it cuts down on labour costs). So the question is, is the £600 extra cost and self install worth that extra amount?
Halfmad Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Localzuk - I'd say no as most of our smartboards aren't even used interactively by students anyway after about a fortnight! Even then it's expensive, £2100 is a rather daft cost!

It costs me a similiar price for a fully installed Smartboard/Sound system so unless it makes tea as well... Have you got a link to a useful site that goes into detail as to what it does/advantages etc regards Simon PS could we come and see yours in action?

alonebfg Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 ok i going for the big sell here 1 ict tech good condition wants a good home with all the comferts with endless pot of money and left to do what he wishes works well underpressure but expencive to run. lol. I home this is not the start of a bad thing. one of the fourms i used to visit sales pusshers started posting but it became uncontrolable as the kept creating new usernames. posting there sale and then creating new one. In the end the fourm got locked and to join needed to have proof of what you did got really silly I hope theses people will respect our fourm (our = edugeek tech guys ) I know we do have people who work for companys on here ie smoothwall promethien ect but they dont sell they seem to help and give support.

Still ... we don't have that many compared to some other places and we should be thankful that we have had few issues with bots.
