Or even better just use ranger to deny exe files running from the drive letter that your pen drives appear as.

Thank you so much :-)

I have recently been playing with this and its amazing. I'm quite sure how useful it would be in School's but I'm sure someone could find a use for it(maybe an image for friday night LAN parties). Take a look.

I have the mac mini for my TV with the "snazy" Lacie HD it comes with a firewire and usb cables to plug into the MAC mini. Also the HD is a USB hub and adds another 4 ports(I think). The Latest MAC mini's have N standard wifi too. For the price/size definitely the best home cinema solution IMO

LMAO now i need to get the mop to clean the puddle i created up ...:-p

You need to be and Admin to set the drive letter but that should work for all users the use the same usb key. I'm assuming you are an admin? Do you map a drive letter E: if so that is usually that drive letter taken by usb pens try remapping that drive letter in you log on script.

if you right click on my computer and select properties then take a look at disk managment does your disk appear in there if so then try setting the drive letter to an unused one.

Dell Optiplex All in Ones here too but make sure you get the cable covers and Kensington/Nobel locks. Great kit IMO. We have almost no vandalism only the odd mouse *touches wood and The kit has been in for 2 years now

Try setting a time delay on the Ranger react task maybe 5-10 seconds and you should then find it works.

To me its a no brainer for 1500-2000 Pounds you can easily get a Dell box with raid and 3 years warrenty. Which will last at least 5 years. I know primarys are poor but unless they are extremely small they should be able to budget for that. Better value than the cache boxes they all bought IMO

I love safari on my mac's its so quick not tried it on the PC yet though. I do think there is some defence in that it is a BETA release and I expect the bugs to be ironed out in future releases. As much as i love safari i do still tend to use firefox more often not sure wether thats habit . It's definatly a ploy by Apple to get more people to move to their platform. Whatever happens competion is a good thing hopfully it will get other browsers to become more inovative and we will see cool new stuff from them.

In that case you will be happy to post a link to your school website and PM me with a telephone number for your school then? People dont mean to be rude but as you have only posted two comments both on this topic you can see how it seems. Unfortunatly there are dodgy suppliers who big up their products on here. -
Sorry sounds like a hardware issue. Apple support is probably your best option assuming its under warrenty :-(
-
This doesnt help but Mac OSx has this feature built in. Only issue is it doesnt work with Firefox as it has its own proxy settings. Does work perfectly with Safari though I seem to remember belkin bundled app let's you set locations however I still think you needed to manualy change your proxy.

Was up at 4am with hayfever this morning this morning but tablets have kicked in now still a little watery eyed though but not sneezing all over my screen.

Yep we just ignored them.

BSA sent a few threat letters requesting we do a full software audit and give them the details as they had information that we were not correctly licenced for all our MS software. We have a schools agreement FFS they should check their facts before they start sending threat letters to their customers.
-
Been said before but the Microsoft Software we use in schools should be free as we are training the next generation of MS office users for them. I would love to send Microsoft packing especially after my recent brush with BSA. Big things are happening in the opensource world and if SIMS sort out integration with open office maybe soon it will be an option.

Running 1gb to desktop pretty much everywhere. Just a thing to note is the backplane throughput on the switch. we have some HP4108 chasis with 1gb ports the backplane would not support all 160 ports in the switch all running at 1gb at the same time. however as most data tends to be in bursts and not all at the same time this isnt much of an issue. I like HPs 2848 and also the 5300 series kit too.
