LosOjos Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I have logged a call with local support who have escalated to Capita, but I'm in a bit of a rush so could do with an answer asap so thought I'd see if any of you have come across this problem. I've created dynamic groups in Discover, but some not showing up in SIMS. The ones that don't show up are ones I created accidentally as Discover only groups, deleted, recreated (with a different name, as Discover won't allow you to use a name you've already used, even after you've deleted that group!) and re-saved as dynamic groups. I've run the transfer countless dozens of times, I've even tried re-calculating the aspects in SIMS, just in case! Left it overnight and still nothing this morning so I'm all out of ideas. Anybody else come across this?
Sivadam Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Try stopping and re-starting the Discover Group Synchronisation Service. Then run the Transfer again! Update You will probably have to save the DUDG again! Edited November 17, 2011 by Sivadam 1
LosOjos Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks Mike but no luck unfortunately
Sivadam Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 That was the solution in our case for exactly the same problem. The Service said it was running straight after installation but, in fact, it wasn't. Try stopping and restarting all services concerned with Discover!
3enjammin Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Hello - I found this after googling for the same problem. sorry for the resurrection of ancient thread etc. - I have created about 6 groups in discover and only one appears in sims... user defined groups made available in sims appear in discover with no issues. Please LosOjos- did you get this sorted? Seems capita won't let me get to myaccount for another 5 days or so
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 When we've had the issue where some groups work and other don't that it is down to non-alphanumeric characters int he group names. Discover will let you create groups with symbols in it's name, but SIMS can't handle all symbols. If you do have nay, try re-naming the group and leaving out the symbols. 2

coolhands Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 (edited) hi I have this problem but mine is not due to group name; I've been going round in circles a bit can anyone help? In my sims discover administration utility>Manage data transfers> under Status it says "Transfer Requested - waiting for service..." I can and have been to windows services and 'started' both Sims Discover Group Synchronisation Service as well as SIMS Discover Data Transfer. I have been to Task Scheduler and run both 'Discover.SQLUserManager.Console' and 'Discover.Warehouse.TriggerConsole'. I seem to be going round in circles but I can't get discover to refresh (and therefore for a new dynamic group to show in sims>Focus>Groups>Discover Groups). So I feel like I am running them in the wrong order, I just need it to transfer because I need this discover group to show in sims. Anyone help? I don't understand why the transfer status is requested - waiting for service...? (By the way actually in sims discover if I click on the little 'i' button top right it says last successful data transfer was 21st April 01:14am. So nothing since, despite my best efforts this morning!) Edited April 27, 2022 by coolhands
Sivadam Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 This thread brings back a few memories. Sorry I can no longer be of assistance but I have been retired 10 years now. I am amazed that the same problems are still cropping up after all this time!
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 If you are getting the "Transfer Requested - waiting for service..." after you have tried to start the service in Windows Services then it probably means the service is failing to properly start. You can find out why by looking at the log files located in C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Discover\
coolhands Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 ok thanks. I've passed it on to my IT network manager. Yes I had already tried to look at the logs but for some reason access to that NetworkService folder is denied! but I've given him the location and name of the logs so I'm guessing he will be able to see. Odd how we upgraded (both sims and discover) to spring release on eve of 19th April, and last discover transfer was 21st april. Seems strangely close.
