About 3enjammin

  1. and with that - the new discover wont deploy over solus 3. - tolerance not met for summer 2017 install (sims installs fine) Sorry this feels like a schoolboy error now, I just dont do enough of this to know it well enough, and the logs that I can find tell me no more. Discover was great while it lasted though!
  2. Hello So I have a load of Epson EB450Ws on very flimsy walls. I really don't want to replace the brackets if I can help it so in the past have bought an EB575 which I can swap straight out (2 screws) It appears that I don't have the luxury of doing that anymore as the mounting on the newer projectors have changed. Does anyone know if this is really the case? or is there still something that will fit epson-wise Cheers
  3. once https inspection was turned off on the smoothwall for the registration server url everything was fine ...
  4. I have been in touch with cornerstones and they did whitelist the IP which enabled access to the site but the registration server still fails during operation when piping through the smoothwall. still waiting for a reply from the firewall guy (wish I had access)
  5. hello another jump on an old thread... I got it deployed, writing to programdata and registered but every file open requires a write back to their licensing server which fails. we are using a proxy expressed on each device (until we get our transparent proxy which I have been waiting for about 7 months for (hosted firewall)) to route through a (hosted) smoothwall and although smoothwall says the url is ok I cant get it going. Have contacted cornerstones. If they use a funny port then I will post it here. In the meantime can anyone throw me anything please? Cheers
  6. THAT WAS IT! - Mate I could kiss you. Thanks for bearing with me everyone there are happy senior types here today
  7. Still the same as it ever was. Going to try it all again using local admin rather than domain admin. Incidentally Capita apparently told my support that SQL Service pack 3 could be at fault. - I couldn't get a reasoning behind this although once I get desperate enough I shall probably try ripping that out ...
  8. 1.0.42.1 through solus 3 not sure of client version - I have just ripped it all off the server. waiting for the go-ahead for a reboot for good measure before attempting a reinstall
  9. thanks both for your replies. @esteban I have tried doing this 3 times or so on both the sites with the supervision of our LA support, including a reboot after service uninstall. Will try again. @Michael service accounts as per screenshot
  10. Hi Michael, Both Sims & Discover are on the Spring 2017 version if that is what you mean? I found someone here who had fixed their discover woes by doing this, and checked.
  11. Thanks very much for this. Something is definitely amiss: On Create the catalogue stage: CatalogueLoaderConsole then Bombs in cmd: After this, Discover.SqlUserManager bombs and I get Then more Sorry for the messy post I am not sure how to present this nicely. Suffice to say there is authentication issue - but is this how it begins?
  12. Yes is all pretty vanilla sims server holds physical files and db The server itself is virtualised . No firewall all on one subnet. It would be pretty easy to replicate.
  13. after some 4 months of sporadic working on this issue, my LA support have tried everything they know, had capita log on and try on one of the two sites, given capita db backups etc I have made no headway. I am told pretty much that Capita couldn't recreate my issue on their test server and so can't / won't progress. Yet I have this working on one of my sites beautifully. It is pretty infuriating I do agree though. Its part of the core (I think(?)) and should be supported as such
  14. So if I was able to create the discover db using solus3 using the credentials that I later then used for logging into the transfer utility I can rule out sims authentication and I should be looking at SQL authentication? There is also the question of running the discover services and which account I should be running them as. I am afraid this is where I come unstuck. Thanks for your time
  15. yea all enabled (tcp/ip shared pipes and shared memory just returned to a very similar thread - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/139230-cannot-set-application-role-simsuser-because-does-not-exist-password.html and I am trying the re-index patch again. Unable to set application role
