wil0 Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 lol @ midget. Im a technician and i cant really afford to run a car, ive spent about £500 in parts for my mini in just under a year! So far ive replaced: front Pads Front subframe (hit some oil, hit a curb) Track Rod Ends Fuel pump Plugs bottom Ball Joints Suspension arm 1 wing mirror (it fell off at 70mph) fuel breather X2 unsealed headlights X2 back brake cylnders Back Shoes Rear Fog lamp 1 Alloy wheel x3 yoko a539s just off the top of my head. Guest Guest Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 each to their own i suppose ah id build this http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/content/sub%20content.asp?cid=103&lid=86&tlid=3 Damn right!!!! My mate built one of those a while back. He was going to go for 2 bike engines but decided he'd probably kill himself and stuck to a sensible v6 This is my baby http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/j17sparky/DSCF1622.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/j17sparky/DSCF1623.jpg Got some coilovers coming in the next few weeks so will get a fair bit lower than it is now
Guest Guest Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Nice mini btw wil0! But you think you've got it bad, i just spent over £500 just on my coilovers! lol (Feck it, thats what the plastics there for lol)
wil0 Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 thanks, nice mr2! is it the turbo?! hehe, two bike engines would be insane! id like to put a duratec V6 in a westfield with a turbo like a noble what coilovers did you get? Avos? Would look nicer with a ferarri bodykit
macca Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 nice to see i am not the only techy thats in to car modding i got a toyota celica SR on 17inch alloys and 40 mm lowered and all the engine done and a groovy dvd playing to watch in traffic jams lol
wil0 Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 cool, pictures? do those 17" wheels rub on the arches, or have you got spacers/low profile tyres? Every time i think about fast cars, i think about getting an old mini clubman and putting a 16V honda vtec in it, 180bhp as standard, 240+ with a turbo ... might sell my car at when im at uni...
dave.81 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Currently driving a GT4 but have had a range of cars in the past, Turbo'd JDM Integra, Accord Type R, Focus 1.8, Mondeo 1.6, Fiesta 1.6/1.1, Astra 1.4... erm think that covers most of them and the worst by a mile was the Astra. PICS ARE HERE............
kearton Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Being from the Antipodes, I *really* miss my old Holden Commodore. The closest thing here is the new Vauxhall VXR8. But at £35k it will be a long time before I get one... http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/vxr/html/images/wallpaper/vxr8/hero_vxr8_01.jpg http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/vxr/html/vxr8.html

Avos? Would look nicer with a ferarri bodykit No, not a turbo Was far too much money to run and insure one in my 2nd year driving. Quite fancy one in a year or 2 though. Problem is they have "turbo" after the name which make the insurance mans hands rub together with glee. Then add to that "import" and hes laughing all the way to the carabian! Probably have to wait till im closer to 25. Coilovers are a relatively unknown make called K-Sport (D1 in the US iirc), but their reputation is growing fast which can only be a good thing! Should get them on soon, only been 5weeks since they arrived Damn weather, rained everyday for 5weeks barring the last couple of days. Typical as im off to york this weekend so wont be fitting them then either
Midget Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 kearton> monaro? you can get an LS1 powered CV8 one for £15k now. I'm holding out for a VRX though as they have the better brakes already fitted (worth £2k) and a better nose. £500 on a quickshift and you're ready to roll.
Oops_my_bad Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Needs no introduction  http://www.badwolf.plus.com/dub2.jpg Nice to see a few old school MKI/MKII GTi owners on here

If I'm spending that much it's gonna have to last. i.e be practical for future family... Here's one of my OLD Commodores. Only a baby (3.8l V6) 1989 VN Formula. It passed everything except petrol stations! http://www.kearton.com/ol6218.jpg
rhyds Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I have a 1995 Rover 111i, 19k miles from new! Now that I have me a *well paid* IT job I might go looking for something more retro like an old avenger or an SD1
john Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Teddy I hate you, you have a beautiful new GTI, and I WANT IT, but whats the 3 doors obession, I cannot find a 5 door one 2nd user at a decent price. Perhaps our sponsor ICT thingyamy whatsit can find me one
Midget Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 kearton> You can get an old Vauxhall Senator Or Omega quite cheap and were based on the Holden VN Commodore. 24-valve 3.0L V6 204bhp http://www.carsurvey.org/images/vauxhall_senator_1.jpg http://www.verdictoncars.com/cars/300/vauxhall/uc_omega.jpg Or if you have some money and want a 4door monaro, how about a HSV GTS-R? http://pistonheads.com/sales/140835.htm http://www.histomobile.com/histomob/internet/115/282801.jpg

Perhaps our sponsor ICT thingyamy whatsit can find me one Personal preference I just think a car like that.. well it would be rude not to have it in 3 door There are plenty of 5 doors around and they ever so slightly depreciate more than the 3 door! Btw consider this if you're after an R32 - GTI pisses all over it from a standing start as the R32 is heavier and they didn't whack a turbo on it!! I'd still have one though just for the sound it makes
