m0nty Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi, I have a maths teacher who uses his Promethean Activboard all the time, but finds he often needs to recalibrate during the day, particularly after a reboot. Although the accuracy will drift off during normal use as well. Also, even after calibration the mouse pointer matches up with the pen-tip when he uses the left-side of the board, but is about a centimetre off at the right-hand-side of the board. I have never debugged one of these boards before so any advice or ideas would be welcome. He's using Win XP. -- Simon
cmssbrie Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hello, The calibration settings are stored in the registry - so just one thing, make sure that the user has full permission to write to the registry, or try calibrating as a full administrator and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, the only other thing you can do would be to ensure that the latest version of the driver is installed (5.7) which is available from the Support section of Promethean Planet. If you still have the issue, you may need to contact Support, who may then advise a firmware update, or revert to warranty. Hope this helps!
m0nty Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Many thanks, I'll try these today and contact support if it doesn't work!
witch Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I had these issues and a driver update didnt sort it, but a firmware update did. Promethean support were very helpful
volt26 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Where exactly are the calibration settings saved in the registry? Our computers are often deepfreezed so I would like to backup this information whenever it changes with a script and apply it when the user logs in. All I need to know is where that info is saved in the registry. thank you
mats Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 +1 for firmware update. I didn't think it would fix it either but it did.
cmssbrie Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Hi, The driver calibration (for USB) is stored here in the registry.... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ACTIVhidmini Hope this helps! 1
jasonb007 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I have an issie calibrating - well, the board calibrates but as soon as you start using it - it's well out ! I was thinking of a firmware update - where and how is a firmware done?
mats Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Promethean control panel thing iirc. Right click on the icon at bottom right of the screen.
cmssbrie Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi there, If you have been through the calibration process (clicking the pen on the cross hairs after running the calibration program), then it might be worth double checking if the account you are logged on as has full admin rights (as it writes values to the registry). If it is, you can check the firmware version as described above by clicking on the Promethean icon in the system tray, and choosing "Control Panel" - in there it will tell you the board firmware version. You can then contact our support team via Prometheankb.com with this info + the driver version you are using (found in Add or Remove Programs), and they would be able to advise you on the next steps. Good luck!
lazkopat Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I have this problem aswel, usually the problem is the teachers sometime do not calibrate it properly! i.e. use the board pen and put a dot-spot-on the crosses that appear on the whitebaord's screen and this should give almost perfect alignment.
