If it moves and shouldn't - use a hot glue gun

If it dont move and it should - use WD40

and most important if you cant hit it with a hammer you have an electrical problem.

I've just used some on a wonky towel rail.

Ooh, I've got one of those exact things[1] -I'll have to give this a go and see if I can get it fixed properly.

[1] Actually, the towel rail in question is so wonky it's been sitting on top of a bookcase in a completly different room for the past 6 months. That's pretty wonky, really.

the other thing was him putting it up on bathroom tiles, then hitting it with a hammer. by all means hit the bathroom tiles with a hammer by accident :p

Not always possible Oaktech. My house is a great example, there is no drill known to man that will penetrate more than 2cm into some walls and using an 8mm bit in other walls will guarantee a 24mm hole. DIY ftw.

I'm currently trying to decide how to attach things to what appears to be concrete skirting boards.

In our hall we have that terrazzo flooring and it goes up the walls as skirting - it is impossible to drill through :(

New tile drills will probably drill terrazzo, but I've not tried it.

I like the look of the disks, lots of difficult walls in the old part of the school here. And made by Fischer, they will probably work!

Same here. 1980s build, walls made out of cardboard. Where as the extension we plastered straight onto the breezeblocks and I have several hundred kg hanging off them.

A masonry drill on low speed with plenty of water to keep the drill and floor cool.

Too many people use hammer when unnecessary and high speed, the later will burn out the drill bit and blunt it.
