Haptic Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 If there is one thing I love in my oh so interesting life, it is finding out what everyone else is up to minute by minute and reporting back what I am up to. It fulfills my life and boosts my general wellbeing knowing that as well as facebook and twitter we have yet another way to follow people. It means that I can now keep up with the Jones' and tell people what I got for my lunch from tescos, (other supermarkets are available) rather than keeping my eye on the prize and concentrating on my own life and where I am heading. Is this what sharing your life means now? I am only 30 and yet so so out of touch obviously! Will give it a miss this time around, but will maybe sign up on the next one hey! Chris

As far as I can tell, the 2 sites share similar capabilities, and slightly similar look and feel (although reversed), but I can't figure out what a lawsuit would stand on.

That may be the point of some people's twitter/FB feeds....but I have had slightly differing experiences! Over the past 6 months, I have had tickets bought for me, by season ticket holders, to football games....to ensure I get them! I've also had tickets for a top-rated TV show, and am getting more as well (Gold VIP tickets....None of your shabby audience tickets for me!!!). I've found long lost friends. I've had bitter arguments. All because of Twitter and FB. It's not ALL about what you had for lunch...but if some people CHOOSE to put that up, then unfollow/unfriend! I like the fact that it keeps me in touch with like-minded individuals (Mainly fellow QPR fans!!)
CAM Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Twitter got me a mention on the radio today after posting I am alone in my office and listening to them. That made my day. Not sure there is room for a Twitter clone though. Unlike FB and Google+, there isn't the whole "FB is evil" attitude with Twitter as they don't make their revenue streams blatantly obvious and intrusive.

(Especially after the nice email LOL!) I do agree that there is far too much "what i had for dinner" type tweets, but I tend to steer clear of those. (Though I have been known to announce the imminent opening of a bottle of wine!) As I say, the ability to find people that you may not have seen for 20 years is invaluable....For instance, my ex was able to trace 3/4 people that i hadn't seen for 25 years to come to my 40th (2 years ago!). Without that kind of social networking, I probably still wouldn't know where they were! It still amazes me, to this day, that there are 360+ people who want to read my tweets! And even more so, when someone famous follows me.....Is that just me that wonders about that? (Talking of which.....I'm now being followed on G+ by Graham Linehan.....Anyone who doesn't know who he is....well...I'd be amazed, on here of all places!)
