Care to show me your source for that claim?

Completely unconfirmed but I think TMZ mentioned he was doing around 110mph. They guessed he was going very fast because the wreckage did not look like a car in the slightest.

I don't have any source for this so it may not be true at all /disclaimer

Think it just goes to show how much of a Gossip country we have become, who is bothered about Ryna Dunn having a few drinks or appearing on a Jackass Scene drunk when Winehouse appears on Stage performing live out of her head.

People who are generally interested in/enjoy watching Jackass or people who like Amy Winehouse's music. (Speaking for myself, I'll never understand Amy Winehouse! Back to Black? In her case, it always seems to be "Back to Crack" or that clown Doherty)

Also, I fully agree with the speeding & getting in a car with a drunk driver comments. However, I don't believe that makes it OK that he's been killed or "got what was coming to him."

Just for completeness, I was the one to negative rep. (I'm not one to 'hide', and perfectly happy to explain - though I think follow-on comments by other users have explained well enough - I agree with most.)

I'm appauled at some of the comments from supposed professionals on a this site (which is meant to be professional?)

I would potentially dish out more, but I don't have the time (or interest now). May issue 'thanks' this evening to those who clearly share my opinion from reading above though.

"A police statement said a "preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident.""

May...... I may well have left work early yesterday, but if they are going to pull me up on it they better have evidence to back up their claims.

It confirms your belief of a 'gossip country' just in this thread alone. So many people willing to make a judgement based on gossip.

Okay when does being a professional preclude you from making a personal opinion? Especially when this is discussing something completely irrelevant to the IT field?

Indeed, this is after all a general forum. My posts are my opinions and do not belong to Edugeek, my school(s), my wife, my Blackberry phone which I'm sure is becoming sentient and the sandwich I failed to eat this morning.

To be honest I would say who really cares about negative rep, it's not as if it affects your life really. Rep is overated :)

A sad day, but at the moment it looks like he took the decision to drink and drive and his passenger took the decision to go with him. At least they only took themselves out and if this tragedy makes people think again about drinking and driving that is a good thing.

It looks like I got a neg rep after I'd posted that, some people really need to grow a thicker skin. If we all went round chanting "kumbyah" then life would be boring :)

What was the neg-repers comment?

Have you seen my nose? You would probably (and wrongly) say it's that shape because I'd been fighting.

I have seen plenty of noses which are just down to people being plain ugly and nothing to do with fighting, I have never seen a car in that state that has crashed doing the speed limit, sorry.

Dunno, I can't seem to find where you can view rep comments.

You've never broken the speed limit?

There is quite a difference doing 35 in a 30 zone, or doing 80 on a motorway compared to 100/110 (or whatever speed he was going at) on a road in a suburban area that was most likely no more then a 55 zone.

Let's get a couple of things straight. If someone that isn't exactly a role model pops it - then fair enough, life and death occur, people will mourn their loss, people will say they had it coming - people will be people. Everyone makes their own contributions to life and I hope this fella did something more worthwhile than the complete moronic rubbish he's famous for.

Who'd miss Amy Winehouse? She will almost certainly pop it before long, but at least she had a talent (and probably still has underneath all that junk she's taking). At least we can say she gave something to the world.

What can we say about this chap?

He shoved a tonka toy in a place the sun will not shine. Oh wow, excuse me for not falling off my chair in woe.

There will always be exceptions - some of the world's greatest talents whether its for their art forms or their minds have had their minds and/or creativity sullied or fuelled by various drugs and misdemeanours. But they still gave something back.

If it was drink related, and he was driving, then he should be seen with no more or less respect than the next guy who crashed a car and killed himself whilst under the influence. His own family won't be blaming cars, Carlsberg or the Highways Agency - they'd be blaming him for being a complete prat. So why are anyone else's opinions not as valid?

Regardless of all that, it's not a nice situation. Let's just move on and accept he was a prat in the opinion of some, he died apparently doing something stupid, poo happens.

I've seen what post it's for. Not worried about neg rep, just saying it as I see it. :)
