sparkeh Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 If you didn't get the message, embc is holding an 'Engagement day' on 14th June at Walkers Stadium, Leicester where you can meet the bidders, listen to their initial proposals and provide feedback. email [email protected] to register interest. In another piece of news, after the latest round of talks, one of the suppliers, Logicalis, decided to withdraw, leaving 5 bidders.
GrumbleDook Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 See you there ... don't forget to wear your lanyard. If anyone fancies a bite to eat afterwards this could be a chance.
Edu-IT Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 See you there ... don't forget to wear your lanyard. If anyone fancies a bite to eat afterwards this could be a chance. Are you providing them? ;-)
GrumbleDook Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Are you providing them? ;-) Any spares I had have already been handed out to Northants folk ... but I can ask the EduGod if he might have any left over after the conference I could bring back ... if you are not going to the conference, that is.
spc-rocket Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hiya, Do you happen to know who the 5 suppliers are? Thanks. sparkeh Posted May 29, 2011 Author Posted May 29, 2011 Do you happen to know who the 5 suppliers are? Thanks. Sure: 1. BT 2. Capita 3. Kcom 4. Updata 5. Virgin Thinking of returning to the fold?
GrumbleDook Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 A quick bump on this. It would be good to see more schools there, actively involved in pointing out their needs and chatting with the bidders. I know a number of folk just see this as another attempt at tie-in, but it truly is about trying to make sure that whatever happens, the final provider has the offering you need / want, at an affordable price ... giving you the option to take it if you want it. (YMMV amongst LAs / RBCs / commercial providers!)
john Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I'll chip in if Tony doesn't mind and say take him up on this simply because it does work these things!! The IT Managers in my LA have been involved in the new ISP setup at our LA and we are now getting what we want to support our schools better, simply put if you don't chip in you should have a limited right to complain afterwards you have been given the chance to make your voice heard so please take it otherwise people will not bother giving you the chance again to do so.
Edu-IT Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Anyone else confirmed to go to this? I am, I think. :-D
36Degrees Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 If anyone fancies a bite to eat afterwards this could be a chance. Crisps?
Edu-IT Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Crisps? There's a nice Morrisons cafe near to the stadium. :-P
36Degrees Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 There's a nice Morrisons cafe near to the stadium. :-P I can recommend the Hardy & Hanson's pub next to Morrisons and the chip shop on Aylestone Road is also quite good I think - a lot of Tigers fans, players and staff go there and I can't imagine Richard Cockerill eating iffy fish & chips!
Edu-IT Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I can recommend the Hardy & Hanson's pub next to Morrisons and the chip shop on Aylestone Road is also quite good I think - a lot of Tigers fans, players and staff go there and I can't imagine Richard Cockerill eating iffy fish & chips! There's always a lengthy queue outside there, so yes, I'd say it's good. Never been to that pub you mention to eat.
sparkeh Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 Of course if you want to visit the best Indian restaurant in Leicester then just go up Welford Road to the Shivalli!
Edu-IT Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 You been to Eataway All You Can Eat Leicester? Oh my! Lovely food. :-)
36Degrees Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Never been to that pub you mention to eat. Been a few times (admittedly not recently) and what I had was good value I thought. Of course if you want to visit the best Indian restaurant in Leicester then just go up Welford Road to the Shivalli! Have to remember that. How far down?
sparkeh Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 Have to remember that. How far down? Walk up Welford Road away from Tiger's ground so that you walk with Nelson Mandela Park and the prison on your right, toward city centre. About 5 mins up the road, just past hospital car park. Shivalli is on the left opposite the council monstrosity, sorry I mean council building 1
sparkeh Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 Sod it, forget to do, lets go on a restaurant crawl
Edu-IT Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Sod it, forget to do, lets go on a restaurant crawl Sounds like a plan! :-) How are you getting there sparkeh? Send me an email. I don't want to be a loner there.
Avalon Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 has anyone received any more information on this yet? I received an email confirming my place which said more information would be emailed across shortly, that was over a week ago and the event is tomorrow!
GrumbleDook Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 There is a mailshot going round ... I'll try and stick some stuff up shortly (or get a nice EMBC bod to put them up)!
