Also if you want more anecdotal stuff about them being the same, the Peugeot & Citroen were both effected by Toyota's recent recall.

Fatmas Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 if its the model i just found its urban economy is only 33mpg with an extra urban of 58 These are the figures I found: Urban 48.60 MPG Extra-Urban 74.30 MPG Combined 62.70 MPG Then I found these on Auto Trader: Fuel consumption (urban) 45.56 mpg Fuel consumption (extra urban) 65.69 mpg Fuel consumption (combined) 56.49 mpg Not bad really

HaleStorm Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 regards the renault twingo...there is an RS version avaliable for it with a low pressure turbo which bumps the mpg up a bit...plus it comes with fancy wheels, interior and bodykit 1

Gibbo Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 My recommendation would be a Peugeot 307 diesel. Either the 1.6 HDI if you're after a fairly new one, or a 2.0 HDI if its a little older. Both offer a similar power output, although I expect the 1.6 will be in the cheaper tax bracket. You'd have no bother getting 60 mpg from them, and they're incredibly comfortable - especially if you get an LX model with the front armrests. 1
Fatmas Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Right here is an update: We went and had a look at a '60 plate 207 1.6HDI 92 Sport at the weekend, very nice car with a lot of kit included: Dimming mirror, auto lights, Bluetooth, USB, 3.5mm jack, climate control, 16" Alloys, all the usual gimmicks. Hopefully going for a test drive of it on Saturday so could be good. The Peugeot dealer offered us £5700 part ex on the 107 too which is a lot more than I expected.

The problem with 16" wheels is getting tyres, as they are not a common size, we have the problem with the fiat, budget tyres are virtually non existant (in sheffield anyway) and premiums are way over priced

Has 10,000 miles on it which is high for a demo car registered in September 2010 but I've raised the concern with the dealer and I think it could be used to push for another £300 on the 107 trade in or the money off of the list price. The same car (with similar kit) new is about £14,000 ish.
jamesb Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I've got a Toyota iQ, not necessarily cheap exactly but even with a petrol engine and automatic gearing I average around 60 mpg when I'm not putting any effort into driving efficiently. My highest average for one week was 72 mpg. It's also very comfortable to drive, and since it's small easy to park as well. The only drawback is that while it does have four seats, it's basically a two-seater (no long trips with anyone in the back if they're attached to their legs). 1
