I feel the need for some chill out music!

I already have things like Cafe Del Mar and Chicane. I like the Latin/flamenco guitar styles too (Gypsy Kings etc). Classical is on the table too as long as its not to turgid.

Done anyone have any recommendations? I would like music to fall asleep to! :)

Some other stuff to look at, might not be up your street but could be worth a look:

Craig Armstrong - Piano Works

Pretty much anything by Brian Eno

Sophie Barker - Earthbound

Afterlife

Bent

Boards of Canada

Blue States

Delerium

Fila Brazillia

Four Tet

Halou

Kinobe

Robert Miles (specifically, 23am)

Rob Dougan (the second of the two disc edition)

Royksopp

Zero 7

I'm a massively chill-out man, so could probably dig out more if none of these float your boat! ;)

Good luck in your quest for chilled-ness!

I listen to loads of different music, but someone recently gave me both Rhythms del Mundo albums. They are a good listen....not sure what type of chill you are looking for but definitely different. Let me know how you get on. Damian Rice's albums are always good as well as some Radiohead - In Rainbows is great.

Chillage Village here you come!

Wow, thanks all, wasn't expecting so much! I have recently become more open to new music and instead of sticking the TV on and falling asleep, subconsciously memorising adverts for gold, CDs and god knows what, I thought calming mellow music was the way to go!

I will report back on my nocturnal listening habits soon :D

Massive Attack, surely?!

Film OSTs were always great chill out music for me... stick Gladiator or LOTR soundtracks on, brilliant background music. Worth a look anyway ;)

Soulstice - Illusion (2001) might be right up your street if you want to fall asleep to it so long as beats dont bother you

One my group of mates used to put on after a hard night of clubbing was Matt Harwicks CD on the Gatecrasher Resident Tranmission CDs. Some of it is up tempo but most is quite soothing.

You could also try We7:

Link: Free Music, Listen to Music Free

That URL will take you to the top 10 'Chill out' tracks on We7. From there you can listen to previews of the tracks. To hear the full tracks you will have to sign up. Sign up is free and you can build your own play lists.

When listening for free We7 inserts an ad every so often. There is a paid for version without ad but I haven't bothered with that as I find that the ads are not too intrusive. Also as you listen you build toward an ad-free day.

Perhaps Royksopp, selected Hybrid stuff.

I always find Second Toughest in the Infants by Underworld is a great chillout album.

I concur completely! :)

The orchestral versions of Hybrid stuff are pretty darned good! Have you heard the Widescreen version of Disappear Here yet? It's fantastic.
