mdrabble Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Local Pub quiz (if you have one that does a quiz)
timzim Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Or having a sit down..... Cheeky s*d. I learned to scuba dive at 45 - it's quite expensive but excellent to do with the missus (unless she can't navigate at 25m, in which case you may end up leaving her down there).

And the great thing is that you don't have to talk to each other lol. Many of the members of my local dive club are couples, yes, it can be expensive but it does give you a whole new world to explore together both at home and on holiday.
chrbb Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Orange wednesday - cinema and pizza express. Pub quiz. Theatre tickets are cheaper midweek. Me and my family are members at our local cricket club, so summer is sorted, but in the winter we have a cricket club darts team, with matches held on friday nights. We all tend to congregate in our local pub on a saturday so there's always someone to chat to.
teejay Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Guitar Hero? Yes, we've started on that after spending xmas with my brother and his family as they'd bought it for xmas as a family present. Mrs on they way home hinted (well, told me) that we should get it. Many a happy evening spent banging away with the mrs now.......on the drums that is.

Andrew_C Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 and not the local amateur dramatics society although some of them are very good!Grrr... How about JOINING one? If anything like the one I'm involved in, they are always looking for men, either to act, or do backstage stuff. You'll meet all sorts of new people, and again judging by mine, get drunk with them! We OWN outright our own theatre, and are busy spending pots of cash on it updating all sorts of areas.

Yeah, sorry, was trying very hard to not cause offence as I knew someone on here was bound to be a member of one. It's just from personal experience when we persuaded a friend to come along to one and naively went to a local amateur production which we'd been 'persuaded' to go to. Not a very pleasant experience, put it that way (also explains the audience totalling 8 people!). We've since been to some fantastic amateur productions after doing a bit of research, but as a first time 'let's try this', I would say it's safer to try a professional concert, sorry! Oh, and as for joining one, sorry, really not my cup of tea, plus I'm busy doing other voluntary stuff with archery/rugby clubs.
TechMonkey Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Climbing? Get a beginners course together a local wall and go from there. Can fit in to any travels you do and you can be as competitive as you like. When I did my CBT there were a couple on there who were doing it so they had the option to go pootle off on Mopeds or take another course and get their full bike licenses.
