Most of the companies will give you a 50% discount for an educational license as well.

 

I remember AVG did when I got a quote. I just wish they hadn't ruined the 2010 version with the 2011 bloat update otherwise I would have gone with it.

Another happy NOD32 customer here.

 

Easy to deploy, ran well on my Celeron 2Ghzs with 512Mb of RAM, the management server makes updates a doddle, reporting is top notch and should you need help they call you back as soon as you log a query.

 

And I think licensing is now based on full time staff members, not machines.

Thanks guys - just got back to this thread tonight, so apologies for not replying sooner!

 

NOD32 is looking like a winner here, but all bets are off until I hopefully get around to start evaluating these next week.

 

Quick question - does Vipra allow central licence management - i.e. from the server?

I also would recommend having a look at ESET NOD32. There software i find just works, the central admin is easy to manage and it deploys without any issues.

 

Can't fault it personally, and i know ESET want to push more this year in the education sector! so you'll probably get a cracking deal! and they are also doing 3 years for the price of 2 at the minute i believe.

 

Any problems with the trial just shout!

Yes vipre console controls the license, type it in (or copy and paste!!) and done :-)

We are still with Sophos and it does a good job. We have never had anything it cant deal with and the Endpoint security version is great. Simple to install, simple to mange that's what I like :-)

I'll have to take a look. They always do well in vb100

Can Avira be used on a network enviroment or is it literally only an opensource type project so it wont have the central management features etc ?

Sophos here. Have been for years. Easy to push on the network and a doddle for those PC's not on the central system (laptops that teachers leave at home all the time). We have it running on out of the box PC's running XP/Win 7 as well as RM CC4. No problem on low spec PCs. I first started using it Win95!!!
