dalsoth Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Some truly entertaining shows to me at least that you may or may not have heard of. Let me know if you can think of some other gems that i may not have heard of as i love finding new shows. Misfits - Heroes kind of meets UK chavs How not to live your life - Top quality British humour The Walking Dead - Egg from "This Life" in US zombie series, reminds me of "Lost" but with zombies Peep Show - The don of comedy The Inbetweeners - Peep show for teens. The IT Crowd - Need say no more! Many more cool stuff out there. If you are stuck for a pressie for someone then think of a box set of one of the above.
dhicks Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Many more cool stuff out there. If you haven't seen it yet, I'm sure there must be a Firefly / Serenity boxset out there by now. -- David Hicks
m25man Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Bro Town - is a Kiwi home grown cartoon series. Has some racial and political under tones but even a non native like me found it side splitting in places. Unfortunately only found in torrents here and as NZ still runs it's backbone on wet string and 3g hard to find...
bodminman Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Misfits - Brilliant! I'd encourage anyone to watch Series 1 Episode 2, it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
Arthur Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Excellent list, Dalsoth. I agree with every single one. I would also add the following... The Office (US) - Easily as good as the British version (at least from season 2 onwards). Fringe - The way John Noble plays two completely different versions of himself in separate universes is simply brilliant. The IT Crowd - Need say no more! Garth Marenghi's Darkplace - It's got Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade in it. 'Nuff said. The Walking Dead - Egg from "This Life" in US zombie series, reminds me of "Lost" but with zombies It's funny you compare it to Lost because some of The Walking Dead episodes could have been better. The first episode was my favourite though.
tommej Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 How not to live your life is absolute rubbish, everything else is fantastic though. The wire is a show you should watch, can't belive it hasn't had more play in the UK. Snuff box is a show with matt berry and rich fulcher, brilliant .
tmcd35 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 If you haven't seen it yet, I'm sure there must be a Firefly / Serenity boxset out there by now. -- David Hicks It always annoys me that shows this good get cancelled.
DAZZD88 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I agree with Fringe. Also would like to add: Heroes Flashforward (Yes, even with it only being 1 series) The Big Bang Theory (any nerds will find this amusing) Lost Ice Road Truckers IRT Deadliest Roads Okay, maybe other people have different tastes but I'd recommend at least giving them a bash.
Dom_ Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Las Vegas is a great series too - the last season got cancelled just before the finale, so I'd suggest not starting the last season... the rest of it's amazing though!
srochford Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 It always annoys me that shows this good get cancelled. The trouble is that not enough people agree with you about the goodness of this show (eg me - I've never heard of it :-)) so the people who produce the show move on to something they think will make them more money. That's the problem with lists like this; I can look at some of them and think "That was brilliant" and yet for others in the same list I just think "How can I ever get back the time I wasted watching that" and you can pretty much never come up with programmes which everyone is going to like.
firefox_2006 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Supernatural?? Sam and Dean Winchester.....SCFI...can be a very funny show...they even did a spoof episode last series on Knight Rider to CSI (one with the Ginger bloke).

chris_uk Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 My shows: Family Guy Heroes Chuck Stagate Universe Flashforward The Event V 2009 Reaper wasn't too bad too. Heroes was very good until the writers strike. Flashforward - Shame it wasn't carried over to season 2 The Event - Still not sure. Reaper was a good show, again shame it got cancelled. Prison Break - Seasons 1 & 2 a must watch Big Bang Theory - 20 minutes of good TV The walking dead - Wow, S01E01 that is an amazing opening episode. Still really enjoying it. Just looks like it is on a mid season break now.
JoeBloggs Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Oh I forgot about Prison Break, great show in the early seasons, I still watched them all though. Flashforward isn't having a season 2?? arghh
