Just found the hidden proxy settings in Android. yay

I am using 2.2 so dont know if it works on older os's

 

Browse your apps list and open the voice dialer

 

say the word proxy

 

and it opens a proxy settings page.

 

Post back if it works on other versions.

Works on Dell Streak on 2.2. (Or at least, the settings box does appear as per the instructions. Will have to test to see if it actually has any effect later!)

Another way is if you have the Gesture Seach app, type proxy and up it pops! - not tested yet though. (Nexus One FRG83D)

 

Edit: Although, the one that is currently in seems to be the one specified by the Orange GPRS settings, so maybe won't work for wireless?

How do you type proxy in the gesture search? I draw P and dont get proxy anywhere, maybe because its a HTC Desire?

HTC Desire on Vodaphone - I don't have a voice dialer app.

 

I've got a Voice Search app but that just does a google search.

 

What phone you on?

I think this is the same one you can get to by installing the 'http proxy settings' app but there is no support for an authenticated proxy so I still cant use the school wifi connection with my phone.

Did you manage to find any proxy settings for the Advent Vega? Also if you did, did it work for apps as well as web browsing? Bit unless if the proxy setting only works in the web browser!
