Butters Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Can't get used to using a controller for aiming, where's my mouse & keyboard. Any tips on how not to suck at BLOPS on the Xbox?
featured_spectre Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I hated using the controller at first, but now it feels much more natural to me than keyboard and mouse ever did....and I am playing alot better than I ever did on the PC. Give it a month at most if you play for an hour a day and you will find you will improve... But tips for Black Ops....combat training on hardened (gives accurate gameplay for non-prestiged players) or veteran (gives accurate gameplay for players above 4th prestige). Plus if you reach lvl 10 on there, you get an achievement! 1
Butters Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I just find my aiming is awful compared to everyone else, takes me yonks to line up a shot and by that time I'm usually pulling a knife out of my spine. Kids are just too fast for me and I'm 'only' 24!
featured_spectre Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I am 24 too...but seriously, combat training, work it up and get better, start on recruit and work your way up. I now only play on veteran to give myself some sort of challenge (in this respect I can be hit with a headshot from across the map on Array with a pistol).

What we would do was set up a private match on certain maps, and have all but one person assign to one team, and then just one person assign to the other team. The single person had 20 seconds or so to corner himself into a building (we only played maps that were good for this) and then the 10 or so on the other team would try and break in. The single person would change each game, and depending on skill it might have been 3 against the rest etc. We used to play loads of daft private games like this among friends, and it's the thing I miss most about the Xbox.

Im not great at black ops, my reactions arent quick enough and then when i fire i just spray. Thanks for the advise ref combat training nephilim, will give that a go but veteran might be abit to hard for me.. will give a go for fun when i get my xbox back. One thing i keep doing recently is to go for a stab as the first reaction by accident.. so annoying. EDIT: BTW how do we thank ppl for a post? The button is not where i thought it was.. But my OH is completely and utterly obsessed with the game and that is all thats on all day, that and the fact he turns into that women from the exocist (still waiting for the head spin). I bought him Fable 3, Assasins Creed and even Black Ops this xmas hoping it would be a change but its just the same. I really like the story modes but have just gone completely off the multiplayer.

Only happens with black ops and mw2, other games dont seem enrage me to the point where i want to throw the pad at the screen...

ben604 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I'm a PC Black Ops gamer! Had it since launch, but I'm only just starting to put the time in on it. Just got a 40" 1080p LCD over christmas and it's looks amazing at full resolution. I particularly like crouch only servers, very tense. Not touched the single player, rarely do on FPS games.

I'm still trying to find a replacement for Counterstrike and Quake. This isn't far off... Crouch only is ace, you've got to use your ears to hear reloading, someone walking into a chair then calmly sneak round a corner and take them out!
SYNACK Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I actually played this on a friends console the other day, up to level 15 in a single sitting . I'm still not sure about it though, it could just have been the TV but it felt massivly arcadey, a bit donkey kong in the colour scheme and it was kind of distracting, like watching a whole bunch of small badly painted action figures angrily shooting at each other. I do like the fact that it levels so much quicker than MW2 and it seems enjoyable enough its just a bit weird in comparison to MW2, its all so enclosed to giving it a Doom type feel. I'm not overly good at shooters as anyone who has seen my play will attest so my views are probably negitivly affected by my skill level and the continual drop outs probably made worse by attempting to play it from the end of the internet. Still if I find it on sale somewhere I'll probably pick up a copy.

Some that are relatively open and good for sniping (Array, Grid) Some are medium and good for long range and short range (launch, WMD, Radiation, jungle) Some that are just CQB (nuketown, firing range) Offers the perfect mix for me!
