Dos_Box Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Just to let you know that this year we will be changing hotels. In previous years we have stayed at the Holiday Inn on Cromwell Road, but over the past few BETTS it has satarted to take longer and longer to get back to the hotel due to lack of taxis etc, and had got so bad that it took over an hour almost every night this year, so this time we are staying at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith if anyone wants to stay in the same hotel as us when visiting BETT. It is only half a mile from Olympia, so we can walk there and back each day. I did want us to stay at the Hilton, but couldn't juistify spending over £5200 for us all for the week. Besides, they do a mean white russian in the Novotel bars
somabc Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 1.4 miles too far for you to walk? The Novotel is a better hotel IMHO
EduTech Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Besides, they do a mean white russian in the Novotel bars Now your talking Chris! I never had one of them before you got me one (at the Microsoft Education Conference) and now i have to grab one when i go out they are so nice J

EduTech Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Hehe, I think you will just be having the milk part of it jk Ha Ha Ha! ¬_¬ It's probably safer for me mind :-)
tom_newton Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 1.4 miles too far for you to walk? The Novotel is a better hotel IMHO After a day at BETT? 1.4 metres is too far to get to the bar. Novotel is better too, you're right. Should be in there ourselves.
witch Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 At the risk of sounding a bit strange, I love a White Russian myself...
GREED Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Where is Vik? Introduced to me the steamboat when we met last year... wow!
vikpaw Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) I'm here. Steamboats rock! SoCo launched them in a can a while back, not sure if they had it planned or my writing to them every week with the suggestion of putting the cocktail recipe on the back of a beer mat that did it. The benefit of the Novotel, apart from the late night drunken sing songs by the piano, is that at least if we forget James in the bar, he wont have as far to walk! Edited October 30, 2010 by vikpaw to edit, duh!

john Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 The benefit of the Novotel, apart from the late night drunken sing songs by the piano, is that at least if we forget James in the bar, he wont have as far to walk! They have a piano in that one for us to sing around?! Who out of the Edugeek BETT Team plays piano then? Or is it an Elton John Red Piano that plays itself?
featured_spectre Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I play a mean guitar, however as much as I would love to be on the edugeek bett team, I dont think I am
featured_spectre Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I have been the last 2 years, once whilst Mandy was there (she was nice eye candy) and the next year just had a wonder round tbh!

john Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I think they have one, that is the same place where smoothwall stay isn't it? Maybe i'm just confused :S oooh so DB needs to find a pianist then (unless he is one himself?) and it does run in my mind that is Smoothwall's hotel but London does have a great number of Novotels so maybe its a different one?

I can play the piano ... admittedly it is playing rugby ... does that count?
pritchardavid Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I'll have to try and go this year, last year we was too busy. Year before that, two of us went (not me)
Dos_Box Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 The same deal applies as previous years. If you want to meet upwith us in the evenign we'll treat you to a nice meal. We will also be putting on pizza at lunchtime for anyone who wants some (always popular given the price of food in Olympia!). Also we are still sorting out who is going to be on the stand, so please stop bomabrding me with PM's and email It's all rather nice, but I have to ensure that we don't have the situation we had last year where there were more stand staff than cubic meters on the stand itself!!We are in teh process of getting the manning plot sorted out and will notify people or ask for volunteers in due course. If anyone who was there at the 'end of BETT' meal in January, you will recall we must have had about 20+ people packed in that restruant!!!
witch Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 There are lots of us who want to go who havent hassled you at all - we are waiting to be asked coz we have good manners
GrumbleDook Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I don't have good manners ... I'm just avoiding any more work!
localzuk Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Must remind our head that he wanted me to go this year...
