drokmed Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 They just pulled the 10th person up from underground, each one takes about 45 minutes now to pull them up 2000+ feet.
solitaire89 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 got it running in small screen on my work machine - BBC live coverage. Just missed a bit whilst I walked home and back for lunch. Just heard a someone here say that the side of the tunnel is wearing though? Anyone heard that? I certainly haven't! What amazes me is their reactions when they're being let out!
lionsl2005 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) watching bbc coverage, its emotional. Edited October 14, 2010 by lionsl2005
apoth0r Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Can't help but think the coverage is there in case 'something happens'. Very happy for the miners and their families though, must have been a very difficult few months
Disease Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I was going to watch it but I know how it ends, they all get out.
RabbieBurns Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Im sure when it first happened they were reporting that they would struggle to have them out by christmas. This is pretty good going, and great to see good news on the news for once.
JJonas Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 BBC just had footage from inside the capsule while it was being pulled up
apoth0r Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 It is very tight, would send me a bit crazy if i had to be in there for that long lol
solitaire89 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 BBC just had footage from inside the capsule while it was being pulled up DARN YOU, ART DEPT! I missed that, all because the art machine just threw a wobbly!
aerospacemango Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I was going to watch it but I know how it ends, they all get out. I thought it was the finale to Chilean Big Brother?
tech_guy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I was watching it in the early hours of the morning when they got the first one out. Amazing and emotional stuff. Let's hope they get them all out without mishap. 2

AyatollahPies Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Bet the poor sods will be expecting to be cleaned, shaven and attend a state dinner with El Presidente in front of the Worlds media within a day or two.
featured_spectre Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Most likely, and probably awarded a medal for courage whilst under severe stress or something of that nature.
tech_guy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 That footage from the top of the capsule as it is hauled up is scary. And I hope these guys are looked after properly and not exploited. Properly managed, they could all make a fortune and not have to work ever again. It'd be horrible to see them get ripped off by some Chilean equivalent of that slime Simon Cowell.

My thoughts too. As I watch the footage, who are those people standing around? The old guys? You can bet your bottom dollar all the big wigs ie the mine owner and managers are there, to show their support on tv. The people who will get sued are there for photo ops, and will probably want to attend the above state dinner. They are covering their posteriors...
tech_guy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hey, drokmed, why have you got a picture of Paul Daniels as your avatar?
mattx Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 They should all dress up as characters from Planet Of The Apes near the mine shaft entrance......
drokmed Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Hey, drokmed, why have you got a picture of Paul Daniels as your avatar? That's my wife in the morning...
drokmed Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Anyone notice when the miners come up, they are clean shaven? After 69 days, I would have a full beard...

tommej Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Anyone notice when the miners come up, they are clean shaven? After 69 days, I would have a full beard... Yeah it's almost like they were able to send things they requested down to them!?!
