Afternoon all... you will have to forgive me my laziness here, but the sunshine has come out again and I'm just flaking out with a happy grin again.

Obviously that means I don't have enough to do, and that I should totally add a 4th school-wide project onto my plate. Since the school migrated to vanilla from CC3 a couple of years ago, we've not had any classroom management software, and a couple of the teachers keep asking, and I think a lot of others would weep with joy if we gave it to them.

So a very quick question for you all - I want to trial 3 out in separate classrooms and find which one the staff like best. Which 3 (or just one) would you recommend? Ease of use will be key for the staff, but stability and efficacy are paramount in my mind, hopefully there are three good enough products that I can restrict the options to 3 I would be happy to use.

Currently thinking: Stone Classroom Mentor, NetSupport (school or manager though?), also found out about Impero and LanSchool from this forum but don't know them from Adam. Want them mostly for controlling and monitoring computers in a lesson, we already have Securus to capture the ill behaviour, considering Smoothwall when we upgrade our internet to filter staff and student internet separately. So really we want a big red button to blank screens and stop kids browsing the internet when they should be listening to teacher :) but something that allows us to control all 30 at once (e.g. to copy a file, set a permission) would be very handy as well.

Thanks my lovelies!

Cheers all, not had a chance to look at this again recently as our fan is currently covered in something brown & smelly, and there's an invoice from BT for the brown stuff on my desk as well.

ABTutor's pricing option certainly sounds interesting though, so if a few are recommending it it's well worth a look. Don't know when that look will happen now, but all the advice is much, much appreciated - tah!

What do people use to monitor Apple Macs that are on their networks? Just wondrin'...

Two that I know of - Impero and Netsupport Assist. Impero integrates Mac & PC in the one product, whereas Netsupport School & Netsupport Assist are two distinct products (not sure of the interoperability between them.

  • Thanks 1
