Question about unattended answer file (sif)

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have been working on a few unattended install over the last few days, some for the network but also some from disc. I want the disc option to fully unattended and I have the below in my .sif file

[Data]

Autopartition = 1

Unattended Install = Yes

MsDosInitiated=No

I think i may be going mad but i hope someone can help me. I have only really tinkered with sif files before on a basic basis. I find that if the hard drive is not formatted in the PC or Laptop then the disc works with no need to in out anything. But if the HD has had a previous install of windows then it always seems to stop and ask if i want to repair or install a new copy.

I want the sif file to just format what ever is on the HD and then do a fresh install of windows xp

Can some one point me in the right direction or am i going mad?

Hmmm, I haven't got mine on me here, but mine is default apart from OEM driver path things for un-supported NICs and my PID etc and mines fine it fully wipes the entire disk and makes it just 1 full size partition.

I got it from the really long thread on here about RIS if you can find that, see if that helpds

I tried this today and i get the same. Is ther anyway you cant tellthe sif file toignore previous installs of windows and just format the partition and installa fresh version?

Mine does exactly that, it ignores everything and anything on the drive and formats the drive as one big partition. This is the SIF I use (its DBs from another thread)
