How to remove permanent pen from a projector screen?

Hello.

 

Has anyone had any luck removing permanent pen stains from a projector screen?

 

I've tried using CPC foam cleaner, graffitti remover and whiteboard cleaner to no avail...

Try:

Over writing with dry markers, leave for a few minutes and rub off.

Pencil eraser

One of those magic sponges.

 

I would test a small area or spare board first.

Brasso then wipe down with a damp cloth once you have removed it.

We use either the graffiti remover but you have to be careful as it can make the screen turn yellow if you use too much and rub too hard. If that doesn't work, then I've found that the alcohol based hand sanitising stuff can be pretty good at getting things off. Failing that, there's always good old ethanol - your science techs should have some. Watch it though, it's lethal stuff! Especially if you're smoking whilst using it

Sci Tech hat on now... Yip, ethanol or propanone (acetone). Use cotton wool and gloves! Oh, and as usual, test on an inconspicuous area of board first, just in case, especially as I don't know what your board is made from And don't smoke, or be tempted to drink the ethanol.

I've just found some of that Deepclene stuff hidden in the office. Will give it a whirl later.

We have a bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol we liberated from the Science department. Cleans just about anything off. we use it sparingly though as I think we were told they aren't allowed it any more so no prospect of filling up again.

IPA is used in termination of Fibre Optics so its easily obtained and justifiable

Forgot about the alcohol hand stuff. I have a bottle used in GP surgeries which cleans stuff up very nicely, its made by Braun if anyone is interested and is in a green container. It would be classed as medical supplies. Many hospitals/surgeries have stopped using this front line because people were stealing it for the alcohol content and a few have died due to it!!

WD40 is also useful for removing permanent marker.

Brasso cleans anything!!! It's magical.

 

Back in the day, if you had a badly scratched cd/dvd then a polish with some brasso would usually get it working again!

It is good - but it is abrasive. Quite gentle, but don't overuse it [emoji846]
