Looks like we have been stopped too... a little hard to tell as it doesnt state our full school name

 

So whether there were plans for other things or if it just means the whole school...

 

Interesting indeed... wonder when or if they will tell us...

Just checked this, we've been stopped too.

Blackburn is unaffected, but Bolton is mostly stopped. We're a joint one though, and the Managed IT Service is definitely across both boroughs. I'm now confused!

I don't know how i feel about it. Getting TUPED into a big company would have been good as there would be a nice long ladder to climb, but would it have been as simple as that? Then obviously for the good of the kids, but again is it as simple as new build = good school?

There is a part of me which is laughing at the fact that if the govt./councils had got their fingers outs of their bureaucratic asses then most of the schools would have been far enough through and the cost been far less that BSF would have went ahead.

@j17sparky; The "Damn" is more at the fact that my school is set for a meeting with a wrecking ball, and merged with a neighbouring school... I'm getting TUPE'd to RM in September, may be better, it may not - only time will tell...

Don't know whether I'm happy or sad. On the one hand I was not in favour of a managed IT service for obvious reasons (job security). But on the other schools need to be rebuilt especially ours and many others of course. BSF won't be happening for us but what the future may bring could be even worse.

I would have chuckled if our osp in rutland was scrapped, final fit out (when we get the keys) happens in October and it's virtually complete from a structure point of view.

 

On another point, I think we'll open just at the right point with regards to the pain the government is going to pass on to the public, hopefully we'll be able to weather the impending storm the cuts will bring to ict

Ours not listed either, we were in the very latter stages I think wave 6a or even later, so maybe they have not included schools in the latter stages, as obviously they would be cut. Mind you that list was hobbled together pretty quickly after the announcement so maybe there was errors compiling it.

The majority of secondary schools in North Tyneside are listed, but not ours. I think we have a couple who got funding as path finder projects, the majority are going to miss out though.

Do you think they might just put all schools on managed service in the name of cost savings? I remember when a lot of catering/cleaning jobs were TUPE'd over to the private sector for this reason.

I can't see that happening, I'm not sure but part of the managed ICT bit was an incentive of say £1500 per pupil initial investment. Then the school would have to carry on this investment based on what they spend now, so basically outsourcing what they spend now on IT to an external company. I think that initial investment comes from the government, so that is now shafted. or is a combined bribe from the builder and an IT company, no builder=no managed IT

We're unaffected, but loads of schools in Kent are - even some of the academy schools are labelled 'for discussion'

 

I think we are just a little bit too far down the process of our new build for them to back track now thankfully. I know quite a few people here are not in favour of BSF for various reasons, but for us we really need new premises, we're out growing our current buildings very quickly.

Just watched a recording of this, it wasn't particularly interesting - just the usual mudslinging over the deficit and where cuts should be made accompanied by 'think of the chillldruuuuun' whinging from Balls. No discussion meaningful of the actual cuts really.
