Even if there is a parking prohibition in place the road markings need to be in a serviceable condition. They quite clearly aren't. Appeal it, and make a formal complaint. kevbaz Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 looks like your on old yellow zigzags but as theyre eroded so much i would appeal, take lots of photos of the road showing how badly faded the yellow line is, i beilve if its bad enough and the line is broken, they cannot enforce it. 1

I had a successful appeal against parking on double yellow lines that had not been repainted after the road had been dug up. The responsibility to maintain the road markings to an acceptable standard lies with the local authority. The standard approach is to issue a fine and wait to see if the person appeals. If they don't appeal then the LA is the winner and many peopl eare to unsure of their rights to actually go through with an appeal 1

If there is a sign then you may find that the fine is applicable even though the markings have been removed due to raod works 1
