iPhone 4 - HOW MUCH!!!

Starting £499 for an iPhone from the apple store. I can be certain i wont be having one.

 

What do you think about that price?

 

Maybe Edugeek users who want one should all get together and buy in bulk from a supplier. Maybe that would make it more affordable.

I don't know how they get away with charging so much! Although isn't it because the build quality is that good?

I would like one don't get me wrong but there are better things I would spend my money on.

Yes, but this is off contract and unlocked. The HTC Desire is nearly £400, the HTC HD2 £450 when bought sim free and unlocked too, so not that different.

I think HTC Desire and Android in general are much better than iPhone OS 4 at the moment. For starters it's more open than Apple and the Android users that I know like me are very happy with their phones.

The Nokia 5230 is about £170 when bought SIM free and unlocked...

Its hard to say really. OS 4 isnt out to the general public as yet.

I absolutely agree.

The day apple released the G4 their share prices went down in recognition that it's not much different than an Android - of course the android runs on multiple hardware.

Remember Apple vs MS, and how MS 'won' because they could install windows on other manufacturers computers.

I dunno, it's kind of worth it given it's SIM free so your choice of networks .. of course, personally I'm hoping that the networks will offer a decent price with contract ..

All top end handsets when they are release cost £500+ ish when you buy them unlocked without a contract.

 

Most people just don't buy them that way and prefer to pay a subsidised price getting a new contract. By taking out a 24 months contract you do just about pay that anyway without realising it

I have had both Iphone and Android Nexus One and will never be getting an i thing again. Its all about the cash for apple, for example the new i-pad has the screw holes and cutout parts for an onboard camera hidden under the case, but does it ship with one, no, that will be in i-pad v2 or 3.

I think apple did a great thing for phones when the i-phone first came out but they have been holding back on the tech with the later models as it makes them more money.
