What software do people use to monitor their printer supplies or is it just me that uses software?

haha you obviously dont have 60 printers and £4000 worth of stock like i do then as if i forget to order a certain cartridge or 3 get used within a few days garaunteed someone will want one when i dont have it.

 

I wrote some online app to manage my consumables but its not great.

What's happened here is that I've purchased all the consumables I can afford for the printers and anything past that is tough. Staff have been warned, and I've gotthe backing of the SMT's.

I knocked up a little database in Approach (showing my age there) - it records stock in and out and adds on 10% to the purchase price so that when its costed to the relevant dept - the IT budget gets a little bigger. 8)

Stocking toner is a Pain in the Asp - i've decided! hehe!

 

Boosting the budget is over-rated I recon. If you can get toner quick enough - most comes next day with no delivery charge, then why bother - just get the user/ whatever to store a spare and replace that if they're really worried - otherwise what happens when the printer dies ...oops - waste of money - chuck...

Im with Dos_Box on this one, ive got about 20 printers here and ive never ran out, i just keep a few floating in the stock room...

When depts are sticking their budgets together and want to include consumables cost you should tell them the price inc VAT. (presuming most schools claim it back)

We always run out - not because of my choosing, but the management's lol

 

Its a look at the store room ...er...my room to see whats left.

 

They never plan for toner so if anyone asks me why there's none in x printer, i say ask the management or something lol

I use our helpdesk software by assigning assets to printers. Everytime we put out an order for printers we make a purchase order and when we recieve the items we simply just select the recieve all option and it makes all the ink to assets. Then we can do a report to check what we have it and if we want to check a department of there printing we just view the printer.
