Hi,

has anyone else had the following error when installing Sims client on a Windows 7 (32 bit) machine.

"In Control Panel the Regional Setting for the Short Date(M/d/yyyy) is different from the SIMS recommendation (dd/MM/yyyy).

Not changing this could cause data corruption in the SIMS SQL Database.

Please amend this setting before running SIMS installer again"

Even though in Control Panel the latter date format is set.

Any ideas/things to try?

Cheers

Chris

I had this issue just yesterday. I just changed the format to something else, applied it and then changed it back to the correct format. SIMS then installed without error.

Hope that helps.

This is happening on all our newly built Win7 PC's. iS there a more elegant solution than having to reset the locale (even though it is correct and set to uk?)

Is this the same for everyone that installs SIMS on Win7?

I've seen this a couple of times - always with OEM installations.

A cheeky workaround is to install the component parts of SIMS individually rather than using SIMSInst.exe.

ie -

SIMSApplicationSetup.exe

SIMSManualSetup.exe

SIMSAmparkSetup.exe

Obviously you'll need to know the right paths to install each of them to.

Probably easier just to change the locale and then change it back though.

Just to let you all know, I have usually got around this by changing the Location in Regional Settings to US, applying & closing, then going back in and changing back to UK.

However, I've had a Win 7 device today that this had no effect on. In the end, I got it working by changing the Format in the Regional Settings US, applying & closing, then going back in and changing back to UK. After I did this, the install went through fine, so it may be a case of trying one, then the other, or both to be sure. :)

To get around this issue, simply go to the regional settings click on Additional settings and then hit reset.

This will resolve the issue, no need to change anything, just hit reset

What does it reset to? UK settings? My systems would probably go to US.

Aren't these sorts of things controlled on the images so upon installation they are correct..?

I think we've had an issue where it uses the local default profile to set these things up, so it depends on who built the image as to whether it will play ball up front or not.

@rawns - odd, that it didn't change the regional setting based on change of location..

I've found that if you run the installers silently then they don't complain about the date they just install. Might be worth a look as I've occasionally missed the regional settings for Default Profile when building images and this helped.

I was fed up with the fussyness of the installers and so I built SIMS into the staff image. Meant I only had to do it once then. Not sure about updates though but we'll see.
