tech_guy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Just wondering who you register your domain names through. I've used a variety of companies in the past such as 1and1, Fasthosts, 123-Reg, etc. Are some better than others, are there some to avoid?
Guest theeldergeek Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Just wondering who you register your domain names through. I've used a variety of companies in the past such as 1and1, Fasthosts, 123-Reg, etc. Are some better than others, are there some to avoid? I now use daily.co.uk for domain registration (comes with free mailbox, forwarding, catch-all etc). Had some self-made issues which they sorted out very, very quickly for me on more than one occasion. Very happy with their service.
Hightower Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Used to use 1and1.co.uk when I first started in IT. Recently tried moving my domains over to my hosting provider and I've had no end of trouble with them (1and1 that is). They just don't seem to want to release the domain, no matter how many times I contact them, or how many times I try in the contract.1and1.co.uk area. Doing my head in, and for this experience alone I wouldn't recommend them.
MatthewL Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I have always used 1 and 1. Never had any problems and use them for my email hosting.

RabbieBurns Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I use domaincity.co.uk have used them for over 11 years. Been good for what I use it for.
john Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 CS New Media for all mine Carl and crew are great, very helpful and supportive
Trapper Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Joker.com for all mine. Not the cheapest, but you get a lot of options. Now signed up with my personal .net domain for another five years for about £20. I use one.com, I believe their German for my external web hosting. It's about £25 for a year with a .net domain, unlimited space, few SQL DBs,5GB transfer per month. Frankly I don't use it anymore, but for the money it's always useful to have. Hosting it at home off my Aspire Revo is fine, but I like to keep my ports firmly closed.
EduTech Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I used Name.com when i first started, never had a problem with them but had to transfer a few domains from a 123-Reg user a few months ago now and started using them again never had any problems. Carl @ CS New Media sorted by Personal Domain out and host's my email top service James.
