From another thread, my pet hate is 'Could of' - 'Would of' - Should of' etc

Also.... I recently stayed with an African family in S A frica. He, the father, was a teacher. His pet hate was 'different to'.

People using "less" and "fewer" incorrectly.

That was another of his. It's sad when people who's English is their 3rd or 4th language correct what for some of us is our 1st and only language.

lol, lmao, rotfl

I usually wonder if they are actually "laughing out loud", "laughing my(their) @$$ off" or "rolling on the floor laughing" - I'm sure that they would be getting strange looks - especially if they are in work!

If they are actually doing the above - what does this hold for pmsl? I hope I never have to work with them!

Another seemingly interchagable pair of words is bought and brought.

Example, "I brought a cup of coffee from the cafe." Oh really? Where did you bring it to?

Oh, yes, don't you just hate it when they interview some chav on tv and they begin with "Basically, ........" when asked what happened.

Basically, yeah I do, like....

I love the way i have sparked this convo off with my terrible grammer! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! <---- just to annoy some OF you :troll:

Not sure if the "LOL" is what's supposed to annoy us or the fact that you can't spell "grammar"!!
