One of the things I like about the images is the way the Moon module is a blaze of colour in such a black and white landscape, almost as if someone had joined the two together in Photoshop. Hang on a minute, you don't think..? No, it's not possible, I remember staying up most of the night to watch the first lunar landing. Mind you, the pictures were so bad I could have been watching a haggis on a pile of mashed potato.

A Few years a go I sent an email to the international space station and was surprised when they sent me a reply.

I was going to get the school to send one but they discontinued that service.

The brown /orange colour,is 'Kevlar' sheet, Its a very lightweight plastic which can stand high temperatures and is a good insulator and it used to be very expensive.when I was a research scientist we used it mainly for its good electrical insulation .

Have you seen Nasa TV ?... http://ww.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html I think it's the education channel. That has school children talking about space etc.

Also on Nasa TV you can look what's happening in the space station, its on about each day but remember the time zone which is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

Have you taken your daughter to National Space Centre in Leicester ?. http://www.spacecentre.co.uk/ That's a great place and if you have time walk out of the car park to the Abby Pumping station next door, that's just as good.

One best interviews I did was with astronauts interviewed Piers Sellers and rest of the sts-112 crew.

 

You have an image of what they should be like and what drives them to do what they do but main thing that drives them is not going into space but discovery of new science etc.
