It needs 17" screen minimum Large hard disk fast processor 4gb RAM decent graphics card firewire Blue Ray with DVD burner. 3yr warranty SVHS input would be nice and as usual we would like to do this for the lowest cost possible. so PM me a quote/any questions
CyberNerd Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 and as usual we would like to do this for the lowest cost possible. buy a desktop
SC-UK Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 It won't be cheap, but if it's going to be used for Video stuff, I would seriously recommend a 17" MacBook Pro with an external Blu-Ray drive. It just depends really on exactly what you're going to be using, and how much you want to spend!
CyberNerd Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 anything with a decent graphics card is going to be really pricey it needs to be portable buy 2 desktops ?
laserblazer Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 it needs to be portable Buy a sacktruck I would say the MacBook Pro but it's still a bit of a compromise. By SVHS do you mean S-Video?

JJonas Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) By SVHS do you mean S-Video? thats the one. As for the graphics card he is not playing Crysis so anything that is going to work for video production will be fine. Edited February 2, 2010 by JJonas
JJonas Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 dabs.com - Lenovo W700 C2Q 4GB 400 BluRay VB/XPP (NRPMKUK) very nice but slightly over the £1000 budget.
stevenwba Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 dabs.com - Lenovo W700 C2Q 4GB 400 BluRay VB/XPP (NRPMKUK) getting that spect laptop is so expensive, can get a desktop with spec for about £600 on ebuyer
CyberNerd Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 very nice but slightly over the £1000 budget. you'll have to lower your spec then - specifically, when you say "high spec graphics card" - because that is the killer here.
JJonas Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 you'll have to lower your spec then - specifically, when you say "high spec graphics card" - because that is the killer here. Do I need a high spec graphics card for making videos or is it just for games? At the moment im looking at an Acer with a 1gb card. almost anything is going to be higher spec than what he is using at the moment.
CyberNerd Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Tis comes pretty close: dabs.com - Samsung R720 Core 2 Duo P8700 4GB 500GB Blu-ray player Windows 7 Home Premium 17.3" (NP-R720-PS01UK) no firewire, and only 1yr warranty though
CyberNerd Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Do I need a high spec graphics card for making videos or is it just for games? probably not. faster disk speed would be more useful. TBH - 2*desktops would still be better value.

Thanks. Can anybody improve on this?
JJonas Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Take a look at the Dell Vostro 1720 Should be able to get the following spec for under £900.00 that looks good as well
Dos_Box Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The new Dell Vostros come with i7 processors now don't they? *runs off to check*

At the moment im looking at an Acer with a 1gb card. almost anything is going to be higher spec than what he is using at the moment. the ATI 4870 or there abouts should be good enough for video editing ( does the screen have to be 17" ) but as per above I would go with the mac book pro
Ben-BSH Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 This probally does not meet all your requirements, but is still a bargin for the price, and worth having a look at on the offchance it has a 1/2 decent graphics. Acer Aspire 5732Z Value Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer 4GB DDR3!
