Had annoying kid next to me who was on youtube, was being loud & playing music - really annoyed me

so I created this quick script and shutdown their computer without warning! At the prompt just enter the computername!

Hope someone else might find it usefull!

Instant Kill.bat

@ECHO OFF

cls

SET /P comp=[Kill]

shutdown -m %comp% -s -f -t 00

exit

I prefer to mess with their heads and keep killing the browser.

Of course, when I get back to the office, I then report them for an AUP breach. :evil_twisted:

But fair play, shutting the PC down works too.

Kid comes into suite and askes me if its ok to use a computer to finish his powerpoint for homework and selects a computer with the screen not facing me.

I fire up RM Tutor and see he his playing a game embedded in an Excel document. So I take control of the machine and shutdown the game, then send a message saying "Please don't use me to play games, you know you aren't allowed and you asked Mr Poole if you could finish your homework so please you me for that". Then I launch PowerPoint and return control.

Kids face was priceless. :)

I love it! I think I'm going to have to suggest that we have some new software here!!

It should be mandatory in every school to have RM Tutor/Netops or the equivalent in ICT Suite.

It's so much fun!

And the sound of that groan when the keyboards are locked... pure heaven! :D

I remember 'accidentally' activating the caps lock remotely from time to time when trying to persuade boys they should be working... girls school now, they're not nearly so blatant about it :(

A couple of years ago I simply used Netops to display the screen of one particularly annoying regular offender in Year 6 on the IWB and just left it there until she noticed. Most of the class noticed she'd been caught playing games before she did. Very pleasing! :D

Lanschool, it's excellent - and you can mute the speakers remotely as well and ban the use of USB devices :D

I'd love to work in a school, you could have soo much fun! Wish we could do that at our place!

There has to be some compensation for the petty vandalism and hacking that just doesn't happen in the business world!

Oh Junior Tech used to have his speakers so loud it did actually wake the dead (which was handy since we had a vacancy for a general studies teacher).

I made a script so I could remotely make his PC burp. He soon switched his speakers off.

f5ing the games website they are on while I add it to a block list is a particular fav.

One of my techniques too :D

I love watching them then try to 'find' the site another way by frantically searching Google.

They don't know the power of the 'darkside'....

Or when they try and go 'back' in the browser until they can see the links again, keep trying them only to find they now 'don't work'.

repeat and it doesn't take long till they give up. :D

We get the vandalism on bits of kit in various areas, I'd just to do it to get back as those awkward users who always moan and cause trouble!!

Wouldn't it be terrible to admit that you worked in a school where a select few students repeatedly tried what they could to stick things like BackOrifice onto Win95/98 machines but they found that they couldn't (because it was already on there) and the computer used to tell them off, poke its tongue out (eject CD drawer) and inform them that their computer and internet access would now be locked until they came in to see the IT staff.

Yeah ... that would be terrible to admit that ...

Shame I don't know anyone who would use trojan-based, remote control software like that.

If you contact ITS they will send you a Full copy of the software for evaluation.

I use RM tutor 4 as part of CC4.

If they cross me twice, I just use the 'Log Off Client' feature and disable their account in the AD.

Then when they come to the Office to moan, I send them off to the head of ICT to explain what they did and why :p
