I'll be setting up Joomla on it. I'm just after recommendations for hosting companies, and what people's experiences with them have been.

Cheers.

I wouldn't bother hosting joomla internally, if it had been a moodle I'd have said that for the AD auth etc.

For joomla I'm assuming as a primary you don't have a massive internet connection upstream, losing this to casual website visitors probably isn't what you want whereas with a moodle it's less of a problem as the majority of visitors are internal.

Evo Hosting I would recommend

I have been given the task of finding web host with 50gb space, for our new moodle VLE we are going to set

Cant see any company's with that sort of space.. School will not listen to be about getting frog VLE

For some reason E2BN dont seem to want to give us an external IP address for it

You would need a VPS/Dedicated Server for that sort of disk space, it just would not be feasible to offer it on shared hosting. For a busy VLE a VPS/Dedicated Server is the best way to go anyway.

Thats what I thought we would have to do tbh

Moodle will be better internal anyway

Have to keep trying to get an external IP address then, E2BN are useless, everytime we has like whats the status, the person doesnt know anything about it

Wanted to change the ISP to Virgin Media Business, much faster, school said it was too much :mad:

Were specialist in ICT at our school, we cant have a god damn slow internet, we get like 5MB if your lucky (Think we are meant to get 8MB) Upload is brilliant, think it is like 7-8MB)

School should not be cheap there really, this is very were having trouble setting up IP address, cause the ISP is crap! :evil_twisted:

CS New Media used them when I was working in a a school, and use them now for my personal sites.

Best support I've had from a host, offers great advice without trying to push his products onto you.

I would look at the reviews on Netpivotal .. some unhappy customers.

I have used them for 4 years and host 9 sites with them, never had a problem and technical support has always been 100% I have had upgrades, site moves, data recovery ect all done for me within a 3 hour time scale. What more could you ask for?

A postal address? There website does not display one (from what I could see) which is against the Distance selling regulations.
