Some teachers are dressing up for a Literacy project this week, one is in silver make up, his face had been completed and then he needed his hair spayed with silver hair colouring. This his friend duly did, made a really good job of it making sure all the hair and top part of his face was painted. They then noticed the peculiar smell. It was about this time that the realised why its always a good idea to read the label on any cans you find lying around before assuming that they are hair products. Does anyone know how to remove acrylic car paint from a teachers hair? 13

maniac Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Ha ha, classic! The only thing I know that will get it out for sure is Cellulose Thinners - nasty stuff but it will do the job. Halfords or most good motorfactors will sell it. Mike.

binky Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (Ok being serious here) but acryllic car paint contains various organic carcinogens and toxins which are readily absorbed through inhalation and the skin. Maybe a trip to A&E later??
ICT_GUY Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 I just had a conversation with a nice lady from the company that make the spray. It will all wash out with normal shampoo. Nah only kidding, it does not dissolve easily in safe solvents and will likely permanently colour the hair even if you could get it out. Shaving it off is the best option. Its not that toxic so no trip to A&E

mossj Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Swarfega's good, but I think you need a miracle for that. Don't use thinners or solvents on your skin - it's nasty stuff. I used to use sprits to clean my hands after working on the car, but my friend (who did biology) was horrified and warned me not to do it. I remember my dad getting me to wash my hands after working on 'the car' with some nasty clear liquid with a big read cross on it... (by working I mean taking a wheel off or something meaningless)
