I saw that advert as well, I think it was one of the big supermarkets and Argos? And to be fair, I would get one at that sort of price because unless you are really into your films and have the latest hi-def all singing and dancing TV you won't tell the difference. And what ever you do, don't buy a £25+ HDMI cable, it's pointless, by a £5 one from Maplins/Supermarket it will do exactly the same job.

The best value and spec DVD/Blu-Ray player is the Panasonic DMP-BD60.

Currently around £167 (max) and comes with 7 Free Blu-Ray films via redemption (for the cost of the postage).

(Can also be made multi-region for DVD playback only.)

£156.99 Here with Delivery, Multiregion and 7 Free Blu-Ray Films.

Could always sell the Blu-Ray films (or trade in at CEX) to reduce the cost.

All depends how much you are into your Home Cinema etc, the PS3 is not always 'the' solution for Blu-Ray players. Dedicated Blu-Ray players offer the best solution for the Home Cinema enthusiast.

The PS3 is widely regarded (AFAIK) as the best blu-ray player on the market. This is mostley because it's firmware upgradable. So as the Blu-Ray specfication is updated the PS3 is automatically compatible with the new spec and features on future disks that use those specs.

I think you'll find almost all Blu Ray players are net upgradeable due to their having to update their encryption keys on a regular basis. The PS3 was the best player fopr quite some time due to it being one of the only Blu Ray [layers available. Newer systems now surpass the PS3 because of the better chipsets employed within them. Anyway, my vote goes for Richer Sounds:

Blu Ray | DVD Player | Richer Sounds

Some great big name bargins there.
