ICTNUT Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 this is starting to drive me mad! I've had previous versions working fine! but I just cant get this to work now! 404 errors now! Update: I just installed this PERFECT on my 2008 box at home........ Working NOW Great to see you got it working, what was the problem? I should have a full 2008/IIS7 install guide ready at some point today for those of you wanting to go this route
IanT Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Im now getting: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126' Include file not found /status/incs/db_connect.asp, line 24 The include file '/incs/settings.asp' was not found.
ICTNUT Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Im now getting: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126' Include file not found /status/incs/db_connect.asp, line 24 The include file '/incs/settings.asp' was not found. I'm guessing you have not set the site up as a dedicated site but as a folder off of an exisiting site. SmartMonitor is designed to be run as its own site not as a subdirectory or sub folder of an already setup website.
IanT Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Moved it into its own Website folder in IIS, try and get to the site on that server http://localhost or via its DNS name...........NOTHING, doesnt load nothing
ICTNUT Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Moved it into its own Website folder in IIS, try and get to the site on that server http://localhost or via its DNS name...........NOTHING, doesnt load nothing What do you have for that site under Bindings in IIS? Right Click the site -> Edit Bindings
IanT Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Home one is okay, no problems......... Im on about this one at work, IIS7 on a 2003 box
ICTNUT Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Home one is okay, no problems......... Im on about this one at work, IIS7 on a 2003 box I take it you mean IIS6 on server 2003. First have you followed the install instructions found here: Installing OP SmartMonitor (Windows Server 2003 / IIS 6) What host header did you provide for the site you created and what DNS record did you add?
mullet_man Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi ICTNUT, Am just starting to re-add my devices to the system, servers seem to be monitored fine, but I am adding printers, and devices I know are up and being shown as Warning, I have added a Ping sensor to the item, it seems in the overview Tab, the recent items I have added don't seem to be showing. Any ideas?
mullet_man Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Ignore that, they seem to be working now. Probably my impatience, but I did I the items yesterday.

ICTNUT Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Any chance of the guide sometime? There will be a Server 2008/IIS 7/7.5 install guide up later today or tomorrow 2
mullet_man Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Is there a delay in the items being monitored? I have just started to add some Wireless APs and they have warning icons on them.
ICTNUT Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Is there a delay in the items being monitored? I have just started to add some Wireless APs and they have warning icons on them. Make sure that you turn on monitoring, by default when you add an item monitor this item is set to NO. This is done so you have time to add sensors before you start getting warnings.
mullet_man Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Yes, I have added a PING sensor to the device.
Theblacksheep Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 There will be a Server 2008/IIS 7/7.5 install guide up later today or tomorrow thanks ICTNUT!
meastaugh1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Can someone tell me how to change the default admin password? The instructions refer to a Change Password button, but I can't seem to find it on the admin pages. Thanks Edit: Found it in incs/settings.asp. Edited January 17, 2010 by meastaugh1
meastaugh1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Id like to add some switches to the checking, so I added another group but it called it "undefined". I added another group and it was also "undefined". Its there a way to create and name new groups? I get the same problem with IE7, IE8 and FF. I tried setting the site as trusted in IE8 and the issue persists, can't seem to name a group. EDIT: Worked around by opening the database in access and correcting the group labels in group table. Edu-IT Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Are you using the latest version m1? I thought the password was moved into the site and not a file?
meastaugh1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Are you using the latest version m1? I thought the password was moved into the site and not a file? I believe so, I downloaded it today: 1.5.5 Changing the settings.asp seems to have changed the password. Should there be an option to do it in the interface as far as you know? Thanks
ICTNUT Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Sorry for the confusuion the install docs need to be updated. The place to update the password is indeed the setting.asp file.
meastaugh1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Sorry for the confusuion the install docs need to be updated. The place to update the password is indeed the setting.asp file. Thanks for clarifying. I think there may also be a caching issue with the view sensors page in IE. When you delete a sensor from a device, then add a new sensor, the old sensor is still shown and not the new one. The only workarounds seem to be to use FF or delete temporary internet files. Is there any way to have it monitoring all the time (for all e-mail prompts) without having to have a browser session open? Would it be quite awkward to run it as a service? azrael78 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Not sure whether this is a bug or not - but we have some services (that are monitored) as 'stopped' yet it doesn't flag them as a warning or an error on the main page? If I go into the Admin area and look at Overview - it does show them as being stopped there but it should also show it in the main page also perhaps. What criteria must be met in order to make a server go from 'OK' to 'WARNING' or 'ERROR' on the main page? I know if it can't PING the server, it flags it as a warning - is there anything else, am I missing something? It's lovely stuff otherwise tho ICTNUT Az
